  1. Doh! Just saw that, constructively, no pun intended Thanks for the comment Bob, I still have to finish a bit of the paint job around the fenders and some spots, most of the weathering materials are from military modelling acryllic washes, filters, and pigments. I had many opportunities to study similar vehicles that I hauled fuel to at a local dig last summer. BG
  2. Hi all. I posted some pics of my IH Payhauler kit a few months ago, (attached link at bottom of this post), now I'm getting near completion, I thought I'd post some newer photos for public viewing. Hope you all like it! Feel free to comment constructively. Bruce [url=http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5805&hl=payhauler]
  3. Matt, glad you like it, you must have quite a large storage space for a stack of these kits Dave, it's probably an original kit, I bought this in a local general store around 1981, I think I was planning to do it on a weekend at that time, the price tag was 22.00 Cdn. I think I just never had a place to work on a project that size, so never started it myself, I handed it to my step son on a visit one day, he assembled the frame and engine, and not able to finish, I thought I'd try and get it done. I only want to get the largest lines installed however, once I figure out what's what as far as hydraulic pumps and brake parts are. Thanks for looking! Bruce
  4. This sounds like a great build, the plumbing is a stalling point on my Payhauler build, (I knew those fuel cells were very familiar).. If I could count the hours I've spent looking up at the underside of a five ton tandem truck, I'd have a good shot at plumbing in the air lines on my Payhauler at least, but the components on my model just seem too different. Do you have any kind of a diagram or schematic drawing for routing lines, or do you use your best judgement and an educated guess? Bruce
  5. Truely awesome looking off roader, l love those tires, is this from a Mack truck kit? The yellow tanks and parts have a very familiar look about them, not to mention the Detroit Diesel engine, are these Ertl kit parts? Hope to see this one when it's all done up! Bruce
  6. Like I say, it's in progress, so some amount of this will be painted over in the final part of blending, right now some things have that kind of "farmer tan" look about it, ie. the cab is spattered and the door is clean, I'm glad you like the look of this so far. Bruce
  7. Hi all, this is my first post here, I was directed here by someone over on the Armour modelling site that I'm frequently on, I was looking there for some input and help on detailling this rock haul truck, particularly on the 16v Detroit Diesel engine, I can't find any pics of the top to see the lines and linkages. I'd also like to find some pics of the hydraulic and air lines that would be visible with the box raised, I've completely replaced the hydraulic lift rams using styrene tube and card , as the kit supplied parts were all twisted and warped. This truck had been started by my stepson when he was young, and I had to tear it down some to clean it up, he had done a lot of work on it with an over 300 piece kit, he was never able to finish it, now I need to do it up right. This vehicle is being weathered to appear as a 1971-73 working vehicle in it's present day state, so there is a lot of rust, dust , oil seal leaks, and grease build up on it. Any tips or critics are welcome and appreciated. Thanks Bruce
