Fabrux
In the process of researching for an article on Revell GM pickup kits, I've come across a few kits on which I have little information other than box art. I'm hoping that some people here have the kits I'm after so I can get kit numbers, year of issue, and idea of box contents, etc. This is the only picture I can find of this kit: It looks to be the same as the CHiPs truck, but I have no idea which kit was first. I'm assuming it is molded in tan and black but can't confirm. Would also like a bigger picture, kit number, and year of issue. The box art suggests this kit came before the CHiPs truck, but not sure. Again, similar to CHiPs truck, looking for better picture, year of issue, kit number. I have a description written suggesting this was also possibly a Blazer, can't confirm. Any other Blazer kits besides this one? There's also the Stomper: Would like a better picture and what colour(s) molded in. Finally, I'm looking for more info on this twin pack: The Chevy kit might be a separate issue; if so, I have yet to come across one and would like some info on it! kalbert
The chevy kit in the twin pack is the Chevy Street Pickup, originally black with red graphics and part of the "Hot Rod" series. I had thought the Revell and Monogram trucks were similar but they are not (as found out in the Monogram Rounded Line thread).
Fabrux
Yeah, the twin-pack truck is the same as the HOT ROD boxed version, just trying to figure out which came first (chicken or egg?). The decals look to be white or grey and the same as the latest issue with the yellow truck, which has black decals.
Longbox55
The decals are actually green/white, as is the plastic the kit is molded in (metallic green to be precise). Even the Hot Rod magazine decal on the sheet is green. Other wise, the kit is identical to the black version, which was the first one. IIRC, the yellow version was the last one that came out. The kit itself has its roots in the old Big Red/Billy Carter/Ice Patrol kits, and also shares many parts with the Midnight Cowboy/Sneaky Pete kits. It share no parts with the snap kits. BTW, the Ford in that double set is a straight reissue of the Hot Rod/Demons version of the Revell opening doors F100, only difference is the decals. Fabrux
See, I was wondering if the snap kits have anything in common with the glue ones; the glass and hoods look like they might interchange. The Blazer-based kits are also different than the tow trucks.
Casey
http://www.73-87.com/7387_Novelties/models.htm On the silver Snap Blazer you can see the "ends" of the horizontal bars which connect the side, rear, and windshield pieces, making it all one piece. I had the Snap pickup many years ago, and the tires were hard plastic just like in the MPC Snap Blazer, but I think the Revell kits included a sidewall piece and second piece which formed the opposite sidewall and tread. Fabrux
That website is the only place I could find a picture of the tan Chevy 4x4 Pickup. The Stomper kits have the same rims as the regular glue kits, again suggesting some common components.
Fabrux
After more digging, I found another Blazer kit (Mudslinger). Can't find any other Stomper kits. Found everything I needed for that tan pickup at the top, now I just need more info on the blue truck!
Casey
Whoa, I haven't seen that Mudslinger in twenty years. Orange wheels!? Do you have this one, Chris?:

I did not know there was a yellow version of the Street Pickup too. Does it have similar decals as the black/red and green ones do?
Longbox55
Yes, the decal sheet on the yellow one is the same artwork. IRRC, the stripe colors are either black/gray or dark gray/light gray, and I think the Hot Rod logo in it is red, but don't hold me to that, as I've only seen the complete decal sheet once for that kit. Didn't know about that kit until I started digging more!
