  1. Nope... ebay... The guy just wraped the model box and shipped it like that... I'll load a pic so you can see... It's really not that bad... I think I can just make a new window
  2. Hi, I just got a kit from overseas and it came poorly packed and the clear styrene tree looks like it got crushed ( by a foot ) It's pretty minor, however, a crack is in the quarter window in the back. Is there a way to fix this or replace it with clear styrene sheet... I want it to look good so I figure ask before doing. Thanks for any help! -Rob
  3. That is way cool... I would drive it! My wife and I looked at a vanagon camper the other day... Now she want one...

Thanks bro!!! You made my day... I LOVE notch backs. The first chance I get to buy the real thing (and when I come across $10k)... I'm going to buy one.
  5. That paint job looks like red glass... I need to ship you some of my bodies... You can paint everything Ferrari Red... I won't mind
  6. That's very cool.... Looks like you got evey detail in there... Very nice.
  7. I love it!!!! I can't wait to see it done. I'm sure it's going to be nuts.
  8. Clearly it’s been years since I foiled ANYTHING!!!... But I can live with the results I’ve noticed that where I shaved and filled the front turn singles has shrunk a bit and is noticeable in the pictures… I’m not building this for any other reason than to have a cool beetle model in my case so I’m not too worried about it. But it is a little disappointing that it is taking me a long time to remember what I used to know and practice. The exhaust system needs to be tweaked as it hangs a bit low and can’t sit any higher because the header flange hits the bottom of the body. That will be a worry for another day. I can say that the body is almost done and with a few more bits and foil I can put it aside till the engine is done. Next task is going to be making the intake manifolds and then mounting the carbs and then putting the engine wiring in permanently. Does anybody have a bashed Porsche 356 kit that they are willing to part with??? I can most likely use the intake manifolds out of it for this. That would look better than the bent brass rods I’m going to do for it. Let me know.
  9. BTW. Does everyone have a 1.95MB photo limit??? Or is it because I'm a noob?
  10. Back to the topic, I worked on the body last night... I have been foiling the trim and added bits and the "VW" metal transfer... I have to say that the tamiya metal transfer is beautiful but a PAIN if you only get half to stick!!!! I will post some pics later.
  11. My name is Redtoasterarmy on the vortex. Do I have real VW's???? What kinda question is that??? I own two (maybe soon three), wife owns one (maybe soon two). I have a 95 GTi 2.0, kinda built but everyday driver with 197,000mi on it and a cracked strut tower (maybe lowering it THAT much was a bad idea!!!) and I also own a 1980 rabbit pick-up (caddy) that is getting a full make over and a built 1992 16v 2.0l . I am looking for a type 3 notch back or some sort of bus. My wife has a 2004 jetta gls 1.8t, stock, I can't get her to do a turbo swap, but I am changing her rims out for some BBS's.... tasty!. She's trying to buy (meaning I will buy) a rough but clean mid 70's beetle for her to fix up...
  12. VW Dave, Thanks Man. Yeah I posted this on the vortex, but the threads move so slow there it's like watching grass grow. I figure I'll try this place. My friend said it was cool... Still feeling it out.
  13. Welp, In germany street rods would have happened post WWII. Thank you for your positive support. I will some more pictures up soon. Maybe even have it done this month!
  14. Thanks Guy!!!! A little more... Here a picture of the "rough" engine. I have to trim some flash and change the color of the lower pulley to semi-gloss black (looks too toyish). If you look close you can see the electrical from the alt. Also, a picture of the wheels and a proper paint job on a ratty street rod beetle. BTW 86% on GTA4... almost done as it is conflicting with the wife and models
  15. I started on the engine, carbs, exhaust. The cast carbs had really bad looking velocity stacks so I replaced them. Added some SS braided fuel hose and fittings and detailed the raised features with brass paint. Made the header out of brass rod (What a PAIN). have to fill the exit pipe of the muffler... looking a bit ugly.
