SteveG Posted October 9, 2011 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Now that the word is out about the '59 Rambler Wagon kit coming back how many of you would like to see similar releases of the old X-el promos in kit form assuming they could be done. These would be sold with clear glass, an interior, decals and some customizing parts just like the '59 Rambler Wagon will be. In the case where no close interior tool insert could be located a new promo style interior would be tooled up. The clear glass is a plus too as a lot of model builders aren't proficient in doing glass in acetate . The rest , Shoot most of us hereshould be able to scratch build . Since I am a bit younger and these promos were before my time and are now way out of my price range I would be happy to see any and all that may surface. I have always admired the '59 Rambler you did, not only because of the quality of the build but, also because it's a longroof and there just isn't enough of them offered... And yes, I'd prefer the clear glass and interiors to be included or made up. If you really want to get my interest up, I'd like to see full-detail chassis plates, too. Funny you mention that Ron, we had a customer that was asking if we could get models of a '59 Dodge as well as the early 60's Dodge Lancers today. Not sure what is worse, telling somebody that the car they're looking for hasn't been made in decades or that there likely isn't enough interest to create a model of one (as I'm standing next to a shelf with a bunch of different '57 Chevy's, Early Mustang's and Camaro's, '32 Ford's on them ) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

High octane Posted October 11, 2011 Share Posted October 11, 2011 I haven't been to the hobby show for several years now and I only live about 45 minutes from the exhibition hall where it's held. The show has been dwindling over the years as there is less and less interest in plastic modeling as it was in its "heyday" in the 50's & 60's. I don't want to have to pay for gas, parking, and admission to see just several booths or displays that interest me. The show used to be great ten or more years ago, but it's changed quite a bit since then. There are fewer kids that want to build plastic models, build scale railroads, and that are into R/C as times have been changing for a long time now and I don't believe that there is ANYTHING that can revive the plastic modeling industry as it seems as though it is just "bumping" along.
