  1. Hello All! Its FINALLY time to start my build thread for the Duesenberg!.....I've been bugging my Stepdad Clayton (Mr.ModelT here on the forum) about it every night for the last two weeks. The first thing he said was "Research what your building and know every detail personally...and there is no better way then studying the real thing". Unfortunately getting the chance to look at a real Duesenberg is next to impossible. Thanks to a friend of my Stepdad's however, I had the very rare opportunity to have a 2 hour visit with J-475/2486.... their beautifully restored 1931 Derham bodied Convertible Sedan (1 of only 5 built) it was awesome! You can see it on my avatar and the photos attached. After crawling over the real Duesenberg, we made the first steps Last night when I airbrushed the engine with Mr.Model T, but that's all we got we got done . Anyways, our game plan is to get the rest of the drive train parts airbrushed and perhaps the frame in body color (dark blue)...as well as getting all the chrome parts ready for re-plating....Clayton is taking care of that for me . Stay tuned for more and follow along! Andrew ~ "DuesyKid"
  2. Thanks everyone, Its a really fun hobby
  3. Hi all! I'm Andrew and I'm 12. I already posted my introduction, but thought I would put my first 2 builds here. My Stepdad got me into building model cars last year. My first was the Revell Kurtis Kraft indy racer. I entered it in the Portland Roadster Show Model Car contest and won 2nd place! For this year I built the AMT 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline that my Stepdad gave me and got 3rd place! For 2014, I am building the Monogram 1934 Duesenberg Weymann Torpedo and am determined to win Best of Show and 1st place in the Junior Division. Here are my first 2 builds. Enjoy! Andrew
  4. Hi, my name is Andrew and I'm 12. I just started building model cars with my Stepdad last year and so far have completed 2 cars: the Revell "Kurtis Kraft" Indy racer and the AMT 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline. Both have placed in the Portland Roadster Show model car contest. The '51 Chevy placed 3rd this year, but my very first build (the Kurtis) placed 2nd over all! My Stepdad and I enjoy building cars together, especially the classics. We have built a pretty good collection of vintage Revell, Monogram and Jo-Han kits. Now I am starting my entry for next year's Model Show and Contest....something a bit different then most kids my age are building, the Monogram 1934 Duesenberg Weymann Torpedo Phaeton (an original 1963 issue). It will be lighted and no detail will be spared , because I'm determined to win Best of Show and First place in the Junior Division. I will be starting a build thread on the Duesy and giving as I make progress....so wish me luck and stay tuned!
