  1. Come one, come all to the 3rd annual Ohio Valley Regional Model Car Show and Swap Meet!!! Located in luxurious Louisville KY and home to Mohammed Ali and the Kentucky Derby! Great news for this year as we outgrew our old location (and we couldn't get our normal weekend) so we are now at an old familiar spot for large shows in Louisville, Holy Family Church Gymnasium. We have added some new classes for the show (not NNL style) and we will have so much room for activities. Our layout supports 100 vendor tables (for tables please see flyer contact info) and we will easily have display room for 400-500 models. We are excited and humbled to have grown to this level in just three years and its all from the support of folks like you. If we are lucky, maybe we'll have some reps there to take photos for the magazines otherwise our staff photographer (aka guy with an iphone and an Instagram account) will post them to our Facebook page. Thank you all for your attention and support, you can return to the workbench. 2. Thanks to everyone who attended. We had 495 models entered, 67 vendor tables sold, and roughly 250-275 people that paid admission. We're already hard at work for next year's show. Pencil us in for July 14, 2018.
  3. The Ohio Valley Regional Model Car Show and Swap meet is being organized and produced by the Derby City Model Car Builders. We are NOT affiliated with nor are we trying to steal the thunder from the Louisville Model Car Club and its 20+ great years of the Derby City Shootout. In the huge absence of the Louisville Model Car Club's annual July show a new event by a new club has been scheduled for July 15th. I know this is a late announcement on the forums but I wanted to get word out about the show. Here is a link to the facebook page for the club that has a copy of the flyer posted. We still have vendor tables available and we expect to sell out. https://www.facebook.com/derbycitymodelcarbuilders/ Thanks for your support and we hope to see you there.
  4. Sorry to bump this old thread, but can you show me how you did the photoetch? I'm buying an 86 GN and I'd love to build a highly detailed replica of it.
  5. Thanks everyone. Here's the 1:1 version to compare it to. It's not too far off, but the roof is a little low. The trim around the back window needs to be sharper at the bottom, and I would have opened the area behind the grille so the radiator could be seen.
  6. Thanks everyone. I had my reservations about building this kit after all the body issues were brought to light. I took a hard look at it and compared it to the 1:1 car and decided I could live with it. My oldest son told me he wanted a replica of the real thing so that made the decision easier. The paint is Tamiya Silver Leaf (TS-30) over three coats of Tamiya primer, then polished with a polishing kit starting at 4000, then hit with 3-4 coats of Testors Wet Look Clear lacquer. I then polished it all again with the kit starting at 4000, and finished the trim off with airbrushed XF1 flat black.
  7. I built a replica of my 1:1 1991 Mustang SSP from Santa Clara CA. It was built box stock from the Revell police Mustang kit. I'll add a few more pics tomorrow but here's a couple I snapped fresh from the work bench.
  8. I still laugh about that. When he first bought it and was asking what he should do with it, I emailed and said they should restore it and not cut it up. I was called a Mustang Melvin in the quote. I called and cancelled my subscription. Dano how did the IRS line up on the fox frame? If its like the 1:1, not much modding is needed.
  9. The building in the back ground is Waverly Hills TB Sanatorium. I live about 5 miles from there and worked security in 2002 for several months. Oddly enough there was a guy who had a red CV LX of this same body style who worked with us. I used my 1995 Mustang GT to intercept some people trespassing at the front gate that faces Dixie Hwy on several occasions. I could get down the winding driveway faster than they could run down the hill in the woods lol.
  10. I love it when people bash a car they have probably never owned because of the heritage. Ford sold millions of Fox bodies over the span of 14 years. Get over it, if you don't like the car don't post.
  11. Can't wait to buy a few bodies to make the chop top go away.
  12. I swear I've seen this someplace else...... LOL
  13. I'm going to need a case of them to build all the Coupes I've owned.
  14. Back to square one. I guess I'll be building a body from one of the drag car kits unless I stumble upon one.
