Jim B
Interesting. Stick the Mach 5 in it, and you'd have a really interesting combination.
Eshaver
Anybody here remember a couple of Phantom transporter trucks being built out of Bill Cushenberry's / A M T's Shillouette/ trailer combination in the 60's ? I remember seeing a nice conversion in one of the model magazines once . This piece of M P C history is just the icing ! Ed Shaver
Jantrix
That is VERY cool. One of those will have to find its way to my collection.
Rob Hall
The glassy cab reminds me of early Hot Wheels trucks, and some of Matchbox's '70s Superfast trucks. Also Tonka trucks of the era...
hotrod59f100
That is to cool.
RickRollerLT1
I was reading the obscure kits thread, and someone mentioned that this oddity was going to be reissued. Whats the background of this kit? Is this a good kit or a crappy one? Is it decently detailed or is it typical MPC molded in junk? Does it assemble well or is filddy like MPC's show customs of the period? This thang looks kinda cool for some car wicked hauler. If it's a good kit and worth the $35 they'll probably charge for it, does anyone know a release date and what engine it contains? I cant find anything about this kit on R2's site
Casey
I think MPC was in cahoots with Matchbox at the time, and decided to share nose designs with the Toe Joe:
Rob Hall
It also resembles the cab design of Hot Wheels 'Heavyweights' trucks and some toy trucks from Tonka and Nylint. I guess the glassy cabover look was the in look for futuristic truck design circa 1970..
Austin T
Looking forward to this sweet truck.Planning on making it a show rod hauler.
Eshaver
I see this offering as a "Niche " seller , not spectacular by any means , perhaps a bit slow even . Ed Shaver
george 53
It was originally released with the Ramchargers FE Rail. It was the transporter for the rail. I bought it for the dragster cas as a model on it's own, it wasn't all that hot, BACK THEN!!! NOW it's a getter! Even if it is still the same ol truck! Deathgoblin
Yeah.... definitely going to have to get one of these.
Zarana-X
IIRC, Matchbox had a Super King truck similar to this, also a two-armed tow truck with a similar cab.
sports850
The Matchbox tow truck is called "Toe Joe" (yes , that's the spelling of it on the base) , it's quite a bit different to the AMT truck but the general shape is there .
Jantrix
Ya know, maybe it's my oddball nature, but my first thought about this is to make a fish bowl out of it. Ya know with a gold fish floating around in back?
Larryhagmansliver
Wow - I really like this. What is "Round 2"? A resin caster?

AzTom
That's cool, I may have to get one of these. I built one years ago but have no idea what happened to it. I do still have the box and a few pieces from it.
Platerpants
must have
dustym
I bought one a few years ago off of e-bay, and lets say it wasnt cheap. Its cool as a whole, but there is a lot to be disired, like the 6 cylinder overhead cam all chrome engine, and all in 1 interior bucket. Mine is missing some parts so in the stash it went. darquewanderer
I ignored it when they first came out. Won't ignore it this time.
