Lyle Willits
TRaK is a forum for traditional rod and kustom models. No billet, big wheels, high tech engines, etc. No cars newer than 1970. http://trakinscale.proboards.com/index.cgi I figured someone had to build the TRAK logo car,,,,,,,,,,so I nominated myself. Obviously, the original artwork depicted an AMT '40 Ford, but I used a Revell '40 with a few added old AMT parts. I grafted in the deluxe grille and frenched the headlights. The flush skirts are sheet plastic. All of the flames were drawn on paper and the outline transferred to the model body and are hand painted. The Tamiya Mica Blue and the Polly Scale hand painted flames are buried in lots of polished Testors Wet Look Clear Lacquer. The chrome moon discs were used from an old Monogram kit. I just couldn't allow myself to leave the rear end up so high, as in the artwork, so I lowered the rear. Under the hood I was on my own. I built up a fairly simple flathead and used decals on the firewall that would have been used in 1962.

Randy Kern
I really like this one Lyle. It has that old-build kind of look, like it would have been done in the '50s. The flames look neat, too. Looks spot-on to the artwork, also. Hope to see it at the 'Sit' tomorrow.
