When to do rally stripes?

Currently working on a '66 Shelby GT350 and plan to put rally stripes on during the build. I've got it primed and sprayed with silver base as of right now. What I'm thinking I should do is shoot the 2nd and final color then clear it. Once dry, tape off and shoot the stripes. Is this the order you more experienced builders would do?

I do it both ways. ( painting stripes I mean ). Sometimes it depends on the colors. I prefer to normally shoot dark over light colors. As Bryan says the 3M blue tape will give you a nice edge but I will sometimes shoot a clear coat before the second color as it will seal the tape and stop any seepage you may have. I alway remove the tape while the last coat is still a bit tacky. No wrong way as long as it works for you. Good luck and let us see how your car turns out.
