How do I find the members that offer parts for sale?

Recommended Posts

It seems that there are quite a few members of this forum that offer parts for sale and everyone but me knows who they are and how to find them on the web or ebay etc. There are a lot of talented people on this forum and I love to support vendors when they have parts I need instead of trying to starting from scratch. I have done that and it is rewarding but also very time consuming. Especially during the summer months, I have limited time at the workbench. So if someone else has already done the work I am more than happy to support their hard work. I have found a few and have done some business with them but I know there are some more out there.

Is there a list somewhere? what am I missing here?

Steve

What about the "Links, Advertisers, and Websites" section of the forum? Couldn't somebody just make a list of links and post it there? Are links to sites or contacts that sell the same as selling "on the site"?

I understand from, Gregg's point of view (and the economic success of MCM), that it's not really conducive to advertising dollars in the magazine to have everyone listing sites and links on the free forum though.

Your best and most hassle-free bet is to go directly to professional aftermarket suppliers. Otherwise, you just have to hope that someone will respond to a request on the Swap, Trade or Free part of this forum. (I still haven't figured out the difference between "Swap" and "Trade.")

These are mostly online storefronts that have long internal links to the sources of the selected parts they carry, but no direct outside links to those vendors. It's a start, but maybe other members here know of a good links list. I know they're out there, and don't have to be reinvented by this forum. Some of these have good category lists of the products they sell. The last one, (Rocketfin) is the closest to what I think you're looking for. Thankfully, it describes the type of products sold by the aftermarket vendors.

What if people paid to be on an advertiser link page?

So...? I may be a bit dense, because I don't quite get this. You can always check out what they've got, and (as many people do on this forum) ask about members' experience with them.

The original poster was talking about members on the board who cast stuff. Individuals, not established companies that everyone already knows about. Those people may only cast 1 or 2 items that they use a lot & got good at casting. He was asking how to find out who those people are.

Yes, I got that, and he was not just talking about casting. He was talking about parts in general, and I suggested an alternative way of looking at it.

I sell parts and I try my best to follow the rules of "no selling allowed here". I tell everyone interested in anything I make to please email directly as to not violate these rules.

I would suggest making a post telling us the type of parts your looking for to trade or whatever and if anyone happens to have them, to please email you directly. This would be best posted in the "Wanted" section of the forum.
