Taxdude
So have you ever built a Model Factory Hiro Kit? Has anyone seen the kit of the 1953 Ferrari 500F2? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10040526 Can anyone tell me anything.....I want to get one and they have a very good reputation, but more info would be great. ScaleCentral
I have about 16 MFH kits in my collection. They vary from a detailed curbside to over the top full detail kits. They are not for the faint of heart. I have yet to have the time to build them yet, but they require a lot of work. If you get one of the kits with a metal body, expect to do some cleanup and sanding. If you get one with resin, they are gems, but will require some work to get the metal parts to fit right. Don't ever expect to finish one in a matter of weeks unless you are retired. If you want to see some close up shots of some of the kits, you can visit my Fotki site. I have only photographed a fraction of them. http://public.fotki.com/scalecentral/racing_models/ If there is one I have that you have questions on, feel free to ask. Taxdude
Thanks Nic, Finished one in a couple of weeks, funny. At the pace that I build a couple of years is more like it. I took a look at you Fotki site very nice. I didn't see the 500F2 on your site, do you have it? The '53 500F2 is a metal bodied kit. Now when you say that there is some clean up on the body is it more of a flash and tooling marks issue or fitment? ScaleCentral
I don't have the kit you were wanting to get. As far as the metal bodies, you have two major things. The first is you have to make sure the body is smoothed out and all pitting is gone. Second, you have to worry about kit. Before you even prime, you need to check and make sure all panels line up exactly. Some may bow out or in, others may be warped or bent. All is managable though.
