Tesla
I’ve been researching this project for quite some time. It’s the perfect load for my C500 prime mover. I chose the Bruder #02424…it scales real close to a D11 @ 1/25, though quite a few modifications still have to be made. First order of business is disassembly and cab modifications. Cab height and width will decreased by 10 scale inches: Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Edited June 29, 2017 by Tesla

Old Buckaroo
Oh yeah, one of my most favorite pieces of equipment. Very much looking forward to this one transpire. (I wish I had a model kit for every hour I spent contortioned down in the cab floor access on these )

Tesla
Here’s the cab re-assembled. The cab length still needs to be shortened: Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki The radiator shroud is removed and .060" styrene extensions are added. The extension is 18 scale inches at the top.Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Edited June 29, 2017 by Tesla

Tesla
Thanks for the kind words. I have to say this project was born out of necessity. There are too few choices in the 1/24 - 1/25 scale for construction equipment. We're not as fortunate to have the selection that's offered in the 1/50 scale. It only leaves us with one choice...and that's to improvise!
Petetrucker07
That's right. All it takes is a bit of ingenuity and set of tools.

Tesla
I completed shaping and drilling each hood side panel. My first step was to get a detailed layout of each panel: Hosted on Fotki My next step was to transfer that onto the metal I used as a template: Hosted on Fotki I drilled out the side panels…538 holes in each. It’s a good thing I have a foot switch for my drill press Here’s a mockup of each side: Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Now panels lines have to be scribed and slam locks installed. Tesla
Thank you Clayton and Terry One of the next things to tackle are the triple grouser track shoes. I plan on changing them to a single grouser.
Old Buckaroo
One of the next things to tackle are the triple grouser track shoes. I plan on changing them to a single grouser. Well that cant be much more of a challenge then drilling all those holes ! Singles have that off road heavy duty tear'em up go anywhere look. That will really make this one jump out. Excellent work , thanks for the detailed progression pics.
