Kennyboy
I am building a 1971 911 Targa for my friend for a belated birthday gift. I have a 911 kit to use as a base.....but having trouble figuring out the back glass. I made the B-pillar Targa band already. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! SSNJim
Probably a rear window from the Revell Car and Driver 911 Targa Kit 7461. It's 1/24, and looks to be a 930, but I can't think of any other Targa kits. Edited September 13, 2014 by SSNJim

Kennyboy
I have seen all three of those kits Bill and Jim. Bill knows me from the type of builds I do........I am not too well known for spending too much on an overpriced kit. I originally tried to get a C4 Vette rear window to fit, but it was too wide and would not bend even with heat (ended up breaking it down the middle. ) At the moment, I am trying to get a piece of clear acetate to work in there by using Mr Obsessive's method of building a channel for it to sit in. I have gotten the back end of the 1971 Revell Porsche 911 racing kit modified to accept the glass,( built the B pillar hoop and have installed the glass channels) just need to size it up right to snap in. Oh yeah, I am using this kit at the moment \/ (I have two of them) Edited September 13, 2014 by Kennyboy
unclescott58
I'm not a big Porsche expert. But, I do know first 911 Targa's had a removable plastic window. Don't remember if the last year for that feature was 1968 or 1969. If you were going for an early open Targa, you wouldn't have to worry about a rear window at all. Scott Nope Scott, I wish it was that easy......my friend's 911 is a '71 and I know (from lifting the glass out when he was restoring it) it is indeed heavy, expensive glass.
