Rebuilding my GMC Astro daycab..and now for the trailer

Recommended Posts

Back in '08 I finished this truck. It's the latest issue of the Astro kit and I painted it to match the boxart. DupliColor GM 302. The kit was modified with working steering, some engine and air brake plumbing, working cab lift cylinders, 3 windows on the rear wall, and some other small items. Moving, along with other factors, caused the truck to fall into a sad state of disrepair. I started rebuilding it, but shelved it for awhile. It's time to finish it. The pix with the blue cab are the original build. The white cab is the rebuild. Much of the work I have left involves finishing and mounting the cab. I cut down the optional round tanks included in the kit and used them to replace the large square tanks I originally used. For a daycab, the square tanks seemed too large. They will be painted black. I also dechromed items like the bumper, Luberfiner and other items to go with a fleet look.

I'll post more progress as I go and I hope to finish it soon. Thanks for looking

I may as well include the trailer.I started this quite some time ago and never really had time to proceed with it. I figured this would make the perfect trailer for this truck. It's the AMT Trailmobile doubles kit with the bodies from both trailers sectioned together to make a 40 foot trailer. Everything you need to do it is in the box minus the tandem suspension.
