Guest Sickfish
G'day guys, thought I'd share my latest kit purchase... The brand spanking new Fujimi Lamborghini Aventador! First off I'll show the pics... Then give my opinion on the kit. The body.. Body parts etc tree... Chassis & other parts... Disc brakes etc.. Glass... Best of all... 2 sets of wheels! Only 1 set of tyres though... PE set...
Guest Sickfish
Ok here's the lowdown on the kit.... Wheels... Fantastic! Love the fact 2 sets are included, chrome & matte black! Downside... Tyres are ######! No sidewall detail & the front tyres are much thicker/taller than the rears. The rears are lower profile. Here's a better close up pic... The fronts are on the right, rears on left... Body/panels... Awesome... Cannot fault them! No seam/mold lines at all. Glass... Mirror clear! All the parts seem flawless. Disc brakes... If you look closely you'll see they're 2-part discs... I'll be looking forward to building it in the future but for now there's too much on the bench already ;-) Cheers & any Q's , feel free to ask. Cliffo :-)

martinfan5
do know what size the tire's /wheels are?, I already know I am not going to use the kit wheels,
Guest Sickfish
Martin, the wheels measure out to : front 22mm which is around 20in in 1:1 & rears 23mm, about 21in 1:1. Cheers Cliffo
Peter Lombardo
No if, ands, or buts, I will get this kit.
The Creative Explorer
I know I want it, didn't even know it was going to be released
Peter Lombardo
I just order it from HLJ. The listing said they have low stock, in case anyone else is interested. This kit looks really neat... I think it will get moved up in the rotation once it arrives. I just found an old bottle of HOK Sunrise Pearl in my box of HOK bottles....that will look great on it. kelson
Will be adding this kit to the growing list of kits to buy, shame about the tires though wonder why tires are such an issue in so many kits now?.
Guest Sickfish
Peter... I tried ordering it from HLJ about 3weeks ago & they had taken Pre-order of the kit off because they'd filled their quota. A Brazilian mate of mine put me onto Hobby Search, another on-line store in Japan & I was able to buy it on the spot, along with the new Porsche GTR3R. The tyres are an issue because the model companies don't want to pay the copyright to the different tyre brands companies, such as Goodyear, Pirelli, Bridgestone etc. The only decent tyres you can get are in the after-market scene, mainly Aoshima. Cheers guys, Cliffo.
jaymcminn
Looks good, but it's a little disappointing that the company that made their reputation on the Enthusiast series would see fit to tool up a new Lamborghini with a one-piece engine bay. Now get off my lawn, you darn kids!
martinfan5
Cliff, thank you for the info on the tires and wheel size, now I can start wheel shopping. I was surprised that the doors open on it, i looked at the insrtuctions on hobby search, but didnt study them, how hard or easy does it look at fitting the doors on the body? Guest Sickfish
Martin I'll have to get back to you on the doors champ, 'cause I'm at work at the mo'... I'll put some pics of doors/instructions up when I get home later tonight ok :-) Aoshima's range of aftermarket wheels ( 20s ) will fit on the Lambo' pretty good ;-) Cheers Cliffo

Now get off my lawn, you darn kids! IIRC, the previous round of Fujimi Lambos from 5-7 years ago or so (Murcielago, Gallardo) were also curbsides...Fujimi kits normally always are curbsides, except for reissues of the vintage Enthusiast series kits.. jaymcminn
IIRC, the previous round of Fujimi Lambos from 5-7 years ago or so (Murcielago, Gallardo) were also curbsides...Fujimi kits normally always are curbsides, except for reissues of the vintage Enthusiast series kits.. That's what's disappointing to me- I don't care if a Nissan Silvia or a JDM minivan kit is a curbside, but exotic cars really deserve the Enthusiast treatment. Even if they released curbside and enthusiast versions of the same kit, that would seem to make more sense. It just feels like they took a big step back- I'm in the process of building an Enthusiast Daytona now and am loving every second of it! I understand that the Japanese modeling culture is somewhat different from ours, but it seems that there's an unfortunate recent trend from the major Japanese manufacturers (Tamiya, I'm looking at you!) toward simplification to the detriment of quality and detail. More curbsides, more one-piece engine units, higher price. Maybe it's okay with many modern cars, because when you open your average modern engine bay all you see is a big hunk of plastic anyway, but when Hasegawa kitted up a new Miura a few years back with that semi-detailed lump hidden under a non-removable engine cover, that was diabolical. (On the other hand, they turned around and gave us the 250TR, which has fantastic engine detail) Edited January 23, 2012 by jaymcminn
Rob Hall
It's been a long time since there was a new-tool Enthusiast series Fujimi..maybe 20 years or more? Agreed on the Miura..that subject definitely was worth a full detail version..
martinfan5
Does anyone know that the Japanese model culture is? how its different then ours?. The only thing I don’t like about buying the Japanese kits is paying the higher price for a curbside, but I will take a curbside kit then not having a kit to buy. I don’t think the US manufactures will ever make even have the kits that the Japanese do, so I will take what I can kit. I just don’t buy them as often as I would like, I have a list of kits that is taller me
Guest Sickfish
The tires are correct. On the real Lamborghini Aventador, the rear tires lower profile 30 A/R while the fronts are 35 A/R. Darin, as true as this may be, looking at the 1:1 in these pics, it tell's a different story. The rears don't seem to be any lower profile than the fronts or vice-versa... martinfan5
Cliff, I dont think anyone is unhappy, I know I am not, I am looking forward to getting this kit, I hope it does not take long for it to hit the US sellers. I have a fujimi murcielago kits on the way.

According to lamborghini, the rear tires are lower profile than the fronts. The Porsche 959 was the same way. it was done to keep the all wheel drive from engaging in regular highway conditions. If the front wheels are always turning slower than the rears, then the viscous coupling would not engage until the rear wheels were actually slipping. I suspect a similar arrangement is used by Lamborghini.
Roadkill2525
Darin, Lamborghini is under the Porsche/VW banner along with SEAT, Skoda, Bentley and Audi.

I have no plans to jump in, push the start button & peel out... Simply because I won't fit in it! Lol! I won't be using the kit supplied tyres but when you get the kit you can do as you please... As I will. Martin I hope for your sake it reache's your shore ASAP ... Beautiful car & should bring a smile to your dial ;-) I just bought a few new HOK colours from an auto air-brush supply store & let's just say I haven't seen the Ventador in the colour I'm currently favoring painting it ;-) Cheers Cliffo :-)
jaydar
Mine is waiting at the post office so unless i can sneak home early, I won't have it until Saturday. the tires are not a huge issue for me but i would prefer to have accurate sidewall detail. I really don't like the curbside models and this is only my second after a Tamiya Porsche GT3. At this point i am hoping for decent p/e sets and that red-orange paint from Zero. best regards, joe.
