Superior ambulance wide body

Recommended Posts

In the 70's Superior ambulance company had this idea of making more room by adding 18 inches in width to their van conversions.

The only problem was the wheel track remained the same OEM track causing a very unbalanced ride.

While attending the Toledo toy show and the NNL John Kline (AMT4ever) made my day by dropping over to my table and showing me his highly modified Chevy van ambulance. He started out using 2 older AMT vans that had the window option. He used the re released rescue van also. He used brochure Superior emblems in the grille and detailed the interior. I present John's model, excuse the background as these were taken at my vending table.

I think there is one (non ambulance) that made a quick appearance in one of the Airport movies (think it was Airport '75) as a airline shuttle bus. I saw the wheels seemed WAY to tucked in. Thought it was the TV or something.

But this is simply cool!

Superior did transport vans, and recreational vehicles on this platform
