Dang Chris...another great looking model! These old kits sure can be a lot of fun, I gotta' hurry up and crack the plastic on the AWB mustang I bought the other day. Who did the decals on this one?

Very nice. Don't know much about drag cars. I assume the fuel tank is offset to allow some cooling to the engine. But shouldn't it be on the passenger side for better weight distribution?

I believe the real one is a street car created about a decade ago by either Hot Rod or Car Craft magazine to have the look of an early funny. The Moon tank isn't for gas, it's a radiator overflow tank IIRC.

Darn nice model, BTW. I wish I'd built it--my highest compliment. B)

Yes, Hot Rod Magazine did this in 1997 (wow, that long ago already!) - I've got the magazine on my shelf somewhere. I believe "Wilshire" refers to Wilshire Blvd, where the HRM offices were located. The car was for sale last year:
