Vetteman15 Posted March 2, 2014 Share Posted March 2, 2014 Last night I sprayed the first gloss coat of future on my 68 vette. I noticed a few lint particles ended up in the finish. In the past I tried wet sanding with 6000 micro mesh and found it pulled the future off in beads. Also found some things like scratch remover reacts and removes the future too. Anyone have a suggestion to quickly remove the lint particle with the plans to apply additional coats of future? Lastly in case anyone is wondering I use future and acrylics because of the kids in the house. Trying to keep things safe. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MrObsessive Posted March 2, 2014 Share Posted March 2, 2014 I wouldn't wet sand the Future as it's already a water based medium. Instead, I would try lightly dry sanding the area (maybe start with 4000 and work up), and then polishing it up with a mild wax abrasive. Everyone has their favorites, but mine happens to be Meguiar's Car Cleaner Wax with a chamois cloth. If you decide to re-coat it and to minimize any dust particles floating around, I would keep the model while the clear is drying in some kind of drying box, and certainly in an area where there isn't a lot of dust present. Some folks prefer their basements, but to me that's the worst place in my house due to cats running around with their hair flying. Hope this helps! 935k3 Posted March 3, 2014 Share Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) As Bill knows I have been a long time user of Future and I have found every wax I have tried tends to r3emove the Future as it is rubbed out except ZYMOL brand. Zymol enhances and deepens the gloss. Area s of Future can be reworked by carefully wiping them with a 50/50 mixture of ammonia and Future, this reflows the area and can be repeated till the debris is removed. It will level out. I use disposable cosmetic rounds(see below) to carefully wipe Future, I get great results without spraying. You can get the pads in a 100 pack at the dollar store.
