  1. Hi Mark, I didn't mean junk as of no value or useless. It's just compared to the "latest and greatest" out there they would be considered sub-standard. We (or I specifically) can fall into that have to have the newest and best syndrome. I hope to always build for pleasure and satisfaction. Joe
  2. Hey Everybody, Thanks for all of the replies. I know that those kits are "junk" compared to what is available today, but it just takes me back to that time when modelling was pure innocent fun. I'll admit, if I come across some of those kits on E-bay or elsewhere I'll pick them up. I build more for fun then accuracy and high level of detail. I still like the newer kits with the improvements, but I guess those kits are like the proverbial "first love", you never get completely over it. A special thanks to Bob for his site and work. Joe
  3. Hi Mark, Yep, those are the kits. It was the Red Chariot and not the Cherry Bomb I was trying to think of. I thought there was one more in that series, but I can hardly remember 5 minutes ago let alone 45 to 50 years. I may try and find those kits. I think it would be fun to build them again. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. Joe
  4. Hi Mark, Thanks fore the info. It's nice to know what to expect before assembly is started. I did indeed pick up the '32 Ford 5 window based on your recommendation. As far as tube glue, I pretty much use that in all of my builds with liquid being used occasionally. Joe
  5. Hi Bruce/Jeff, Thanks. Yep, like them old body styles with big engines/tires, nice paint jobs and mag wheels. I've always been partial to the street rods. I also like the old body style when used as drag cars. Hard to beat a Willis all set up for the strip. Joe
  6. Hi Matt, Was just curious as to what, if anything you folks might have to share on the kit quality, price etc., etc.. Joe
  7. Hi Chris, This would have been in the late 50's to the mid/ late 60's. I think everything you mentioned were all different kits. Joe
  8. Hey All, I was thinking of some of the cars kits I've built in the past and my mind got to wandering about some old Monogram kits. I believe it was a series of about 4 street rods. If my memory serves me correctly one was called the Black Widow, another The Green Hornet, a third I thought was called The Cherry Bomb, but I think I saw a kit on E-bay and belive the correct name was the Red Chariot. Seems to me there was one more. Anybody remember this series and the names of the individual cars? Joe
  9. Greetings to All, Well, I took a big step and picked up 5 kits that looked interesting to me. They are, 1) AMT '32 Chrysler Roadster - 2004 Toy Fair release 1/25 2) Revell/Monogram '32 Ford 3 window coupe 1/25 3) AMT '36 Ford 3 in 1 1/25 4) AMT '36 5 window coupe 1/25 5) Monogram '29 Ford pick up 1/24 They came in a 2 and 3 kit set off of E-bay and I paid $9.05 per kit. Let me know what you think of the kits, good or bad and any other information you feel may be helpful. Thanks, Joe
  10. Hey All, Thanks for the welcome and the smiles brought about by your comments. I've been on other sites that recognize member's birthdays and I always seem to be older than the others. It's nice to know that there are some who can remember back to the middle of last century . Joe
  11. Hi Mark, Thanks for the update on the two kits. The one thing that I really like about the AMT kit is the flame markings. More of a nostaligic thing than anything else. I can do some filling and sanding if necessary. The bottom isn't seen when it's displayed, so as long as the top looks decent, I don't worry about a lot of detail or the lack there of. Joe
  12. Hey Everyone, Thanks for the info. I must admit to moderate modelling skills at best. This particular issue seems to have only one building option, which for me would be good enough. Still am interested in whether or not rhe front has to be painted white and how thw much the decals would cover. If any one has specific info on the kit concerning that, I would like to hear your opinions. Also do you think $12.99 pllus $6.70 in shipping would be too much total for this kit? Joe
  13. Greetings to all, I've found the following kit on E-bay and I'm interested in getting it and would hope there would be some folks here who will help out with information and opinions concerning this kit. The kit is the AMT/ERTL 1/25 '32 Ford Coupe #38254. I build straight from the box so how is the "fit" of the kit? I like the decals (flames) over the hood and fenders. It looks as if I will need to paint the front protion of the fenders and radiator while the hood will be covered with the decals. Am I correct? What would be an acceptable price for this kit? Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe
  14. I've counted 3 Buckeyes so far. This must be the place for nuts to hang out. Referring only to my fellow Buckeyes, so hoping those from other states won't take offense from my comment. Joe
  15. Hey Guys, Thanks for the welcome. John, I live about 30 miles north of Dayton and east of I-75 near a little place called Rosewood. If you look at a map long enough, you should be able to find it. Those were definitely some fond memories. Going to the 10 cent store (5 & dime) picking up a kit and high tailing for home. I look forward to reading the posts and seeing the work of those here. Joe
