Greg Pugh
I pretty much have a vision in my mind of what I'm wanting my injection set up to look like. So, armed with these visions in mind, I rummaged through parts box after parts box tonight looking for that particular shape I had envisioned and pieces I could put to use. This is what I ended up with...........two bumpers and six carburetors. Let's see what we can do with these. Hopefully something. Stay tuned.... Helix
Good progress Greg I've just started my '53 Vette, won't be as in depth as yours, just a sleeper with dropped suspension and deep dish steels/baby moons, just the way I like it Will use the 6 cylinder, maybe blown ! Greg Pugh
Lol. I hope to get some work done on it today. It's been a crazy week/weekend so I haven't had any time but today is all mine!
GoatGuy
I hear ya. I was busy switching from flickr to photobucket so the image would show up on here instead of a link.
Greg Pugh
I didn't end up getting as much done today as I was hoping for as I had another project that was getting some paint work done today. But, progress is progress. So I took the carburetors and I removed the float bowls to give them more of a throttle body look: Then, I hacked the ends off of the bumpers I grabbed: After a quick bath in the chrome-stripping pond:
Greg Pugh
And now to make some intake manifolds... And after a little bit of trimming: Stay tuned.......

Greg Pugh
This is still early in the mock-up phase. Still a lot of "trim, sand, prime, repeat" to go but you can get a good idea of what we've got going on here. Let me know what you think. Custom Mike
Greg, those intake manifolds are pure genius! Great work on that, now I need to find some bumpers like that for myself. I want to do the same thing on my '50 Chevy, since the blower ain't looking too hot right now! Thanks for the inspiration! GoatGuy
Good progress. Looks really good. What color will the body be?
Greg Pugh
It'll be in white with red interior just like original. It's a resto-mod.
sjordan2
Any thoughts on improving the headlight mesh? That's always been the weakest link in the builds I've seen.
Greg Pugh
I honestly haven't even looked at them yet. Am I in for a bad surprise?
sjordan2
I honestly haven't even looked at them yet. Am I in for a bad surprise? Not necessarily. I don't know if there are any aftermarket solutions out there, but almost every build I see shows mesh that is too thick and plasticky, with surrounds that stick out too much and don't fit well against the body parts. I'd just like to see someone nail this most difficult part of the kit and provide hope that it can be conquered. Greg Pugh
Do you have any pics of them in place on a build?

sjordan2
This is for the 1/24 Monogram kit. Looks like the headlight screens will take a little molding and bending, which makes me think you could accomplish the same thing using mesh and doing some scratchbuilding of the surrounds. http://www.modelcarg...1&idcategory=12 Edited October 30, 2012 by sjordan2
