MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. It only has the NASCAR interior. The one I have came with a stock grille and headlamps with separate blockoff plates for the headlamps and a grille insert. There aren't any red lenses, only chrome fillers for the stock bumper. The body of mine is stock, complete with the bodyside moldings, but it has the standard flat hood instead of the Gran Torino Sport hood.
  2. Cuisine Rapide was a PBS show we enjoyed watching, and we were amused by Pierre Franey's accent. (To this day, we call white pepper, "white paper".)
  3. Wasabi is a poor substitute for Preparation-H.
  4. I generally don't build drag cars, but Scott also offers upper shock mounts for the AMT 66 Fairlanes (the kit towers are flat where the upper shock mount should be). I ordered several pairs from him a while back. Parts were nice, communication was excellent. I agree that he is a great guy to do business with.
  5. Kilter is where Les gets his clothing made.
  6. Some of the older kits have some nasty ejector pin marks on the floor. I find that embossing powder is easier than dealing with them 🙂
  7. I think you actually need a Rochester 2GC, not a Carter. https://nationalcarburetors.com/Pontiac-1961-1967-326-389-400-Rochester-2GC_p_868.html
  8. I wish Atlantis would bring back the 1/32 Ford and Chevy (if they wound up with the molds).
  9. I build my models as if I had originally ordered the car to my specs, so I would do the 326 4-barrel in this case. That said, the 215 Pontiac looks a lot like the Chevy 230 painted blue and seems to be based on it. If you want that, do the research and adapt an AMT Nova wagon engine. A friend had a 64 'pest 2 door post with the 215 for a while before the 2008-2009 crash forced him to sell it. It accelerated like fog and got dismal fuel economy.
  10. Yes. I use face slime on matte-finish paint to impart a new leather or vinyl look. For larger scale kits, you may need to borrow some slime from your (in)significant other.
