carlosmtg Posted July 31, 2014 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Hey guys, im building a replica car of my dads 1:1 1972 Mexican GT 351 mustang coupe, i got the resin body from motor city resins, and im down to the details to make it as close as i can to the real thing. I need some help with the side decals, all the kits of course have the Mach 1 side and trunk decals however my dads car has GT 351, i took a picture of them on the real car, what i need help with is someone thats handy with the photoshop that can take the picture i have and errase the yellow background and straighten it to where i can take that and print it out with thestors decal maker software and paper. heepey Posted July 31, 2014 Share Posted July 31, 2014 You don't need the Testors program. You can use nearly any word processor. Set up a page that is 5.5 x 8.5 in. and find a font that is a match for the lettering you want. Type in the text you want and test print to check the size. I can send you the vector file if you want, it could use a lot of squaring of corners and things like that, especially in the "Mustang" part, but I think it's good enough for model work. I know there were a lot of similar, but different cars marketed only in Mexico. I'm always interested in learning more about these type of things. Living close to Canada in the 1960's you'd see Canadian variations of US cars from time to time. Still remember the confusion on my first trip to Canada seeing a Pontiac Laurentian go by. Let see, I know fullsize Pontiacs came in Catalinas, Venturas, Star Chiefs, Excutives, Bonnevilles, and Grand Prixs. But, Laurentian? My father explain, "That is one of those Canadian cars." Canadians had different, but simular cars? Cool! Years later I learned Mexico did too. Again cool! Speaking of Mexican Mustangs. In 1974 Mustang II in this country was not available with a V8. 4 and V6 only. In Mexico, they were offered with the 302 V8. Lucky SOBs. In 1975 we got Mutt IIs north of the boarder with the 302 again. But, we only got the wimpy Mustangs in '74. Mexico got the muscle version. Life is not fair sometimes. carlosmtg Posted September 11, 2014 Author Share Posted September 11, 2014 Scott, you are correct about the mustang II in fact up to maybe recent years, in the past all mustangs in mexico were v8 cars.
