deja-view
I have put aside this project for awhile, but would like to get back to it. I want to replicate my 1965 Corvette that I restored into a mild resto-mod in 1984. I chose a set of Enkei wire mags to with the theme, but have not been able to find such a wheel in 1/8 scale. I have a set of resin "snowflakes" like the Pontiac TransAms used, but the difference just bothers me. Any sources or suggestions? Hosted on Fotki Here's my first build of the model where I used the original stock color and wheel covers. I dismantled it, saved the chassis, and started over with the body. Casey
I've never seen mesh BBS style wheels in 1/8 scale, and I don't think Tamiya did any 1/8 scale car kits with these wheels. I would go the 3D printed route, and see if TDR Innovations can help you out.
Kennyboy
You could check the R/C world for wheels.....maybe? 1/10 would be close to a 16" in 1:1.
Mike Kucaba
I picked up 4 wheels recently on ebay that are very close. They are not deep enough though. My thoughts were to cast them and cut apart and do a separate mesh center. The seller said they were from a Tamiya R/C Jeep. What would be the diameter of a 15 inch wheel in 1/8th? These measure 2.0385 in diameter. I'll try and put up a pic tomorrow.
comp1839
depends on the manufacturer but, usually between 16" and 16.25" o.d. that would be 2" - 2.031" in 1/8. Edited September 8, 2013 by comp1839
deja-view
Great suggestions, guys. I haven't looked at RC stuff in years (too many years). And, TDR might just be a solution, too. The 1:1's were 215-15's....the biggest that would fit on all corners. THANKS!
