nascarjj
I haven't finished anything in quite some time, but I finally got this one off of the work bench. It was the old AMT kit of "The Champ" Mustang II funny car. I used the Slixx decals to build the Blue Max Mustang. I tried to use as much of the original kit as possible (even those nasty two piece rear slicks!) I did have to scratch build the interior tin because the original parts came nowhere near fitting right. Some after market detail stuff was thrown in along with a scratch built body stand for display. Paint was Testors custom lacquer one coat Star-Spangled blue. Enjoy the picks and thanks for looking. brett
Cool ,my favorite of all the blue max cars, great job on it. I didn't know AMT had ever done this body style ,though I'll get the competition resins one when I do mine

Chuck Most
L-O-V-E the Blue Max! Love seeing them built up this nicely, too.
Dragracer
Nice car. The Blue Max was always one of my favorite Ford-bodied cars.
Evil Appetite
Very cool! I wonder what the chances of Round2 bringing back some of the '70s AMT funny car kits is? ModelKing was able to get some long-lost MPC kits back, and with the new Revell funnies, and the reissue of the Polar Lights kits it would be neat to have the AMT kits back to mix-n-match parts. I contacted R2 a few months ago asking them if they're planning on releasing any of the old Pro stock kits.Told'em they're be great sellers, and the person who replied agreed. I was told there's a pretty good chance of them re-releasing the old MPC Pro Stock kits in 2012, along with other AMT material. and yes! That's a very nice Blue Max build! As long as they don't bring back that ridiculous Nitro Charger body. The chassis was nice but the body was such a joke that even as a 12 year old I threw it in the trash and put the chassis under a Mustang body. gus
