How many forum posters does it take to change a light bulb?

I'm still using the old stlye bulbs anyway, haven't tried the new corkscrew lookin bulbs. Are they any better?

Don't know if they're any better... but they're way more expensive! I'm stocking up on "old fashioned" bulbs while I can still get them.

For the record, you can get halogen incandescent bulbs. They're a nudge more than regular incandescents, but still far less than florescent, and they don't have to be treated as a HAZWOPER at disposal.

Sylvania also makes their halogen bulbs in the U.S., which is nice. You won't find a florescent bulb that can say that.

As to the original post....very, very, good. Regardless of who came up with it.

Well, I'm still using the same "corkscrew" light bulbs after 4 years and they're all still going strong. Haven't had a single one go out.

If you're feeling left out, I can always box up the 8 or so burned out ones we've got around here waiting to go to the recycler; just send me your address. :D;)

I think it all depends if the light bulb changers have an Irish background or not....

You work out what I mean. I love Irish beers. I love British beers. I love USA beers. Did I mention I love beers? I've just consumed an American India Pale Ale from my own brewery, so there. Then I took Pug dear for her walkies, so everyone's happy. And Mrs warra is making dinner, just toasted avacado, prawn, and brie toasted sandwiches. Easy Sunday night dinner.

I guess for me to say they suck and not give any explanation is pretty dumb. I have no problem with the longevity, it's the output that I hate, both in color and intensity.

I don't care for the hazmat problems or the price.

Ummmm....the 100 watt-equivalent CF bulbs only use 25 watts to make the same light as a 100 watt incandescent. They are available in several colors of 'white' light. They produce very little heat to run up your AC bills in the summer, and they save WAY more on energy cost than it costs to buy them. Several srores that sell them here accept the burned out ones for disposal....but they last for years and years. What's the down side? Please enlighten me.

By the way...halogens don't save much energy. LED bulbs are the next bright thing, they make compact flourescents obsolete, and they last just about forever.
