Hi everyone! I thought I would show you my newest project I'm working on. It's a box stock build with some aftermarket parts thrown in.

Here's the engine....

I added a couple of turned aluminum oil breathers, an aluminum distributor (both from detail master), and some blue wrapping wire from Radio Shack.I used some thin heavy wire to make the air cleaner removable by drilling holes in the carbs.

Just like Marcos mentioned, I saw the box art, and I couldn't pass up buying this kit. Here's some pics of the body painted, but not polished as of yet....

I found some really nice paint from Dupli-Color called Medium Quasar. It came out really nice. I had to go to 2 different Autozone parts stores to get 2 cans, as each one had only 1 5oz can each. Oh well.... :(

Here's the detail for the front and rear brakes I added....

I used some #1 braided lines for the brake lines, front and rear. I plan to add an aluminum exhaust pipes to the kit, so I used the headers that came with the kit. I'll be buying some tubing at my LHS, and hopefully be able to bend them to the correct shape that I need. Until next time.... :(

Thanks Marcos! I'm just following your lead. I saw the photoetched you ordered, and have done the same myself. It should be here in a week or two. I also plan to add pieces from the interior junk photoetch set, and a radio faceplate photoetch set. I still look forward to seeing yours being built. You do awesome work!

:angry:B)

Very nice start mate. Motor looks superb as do your brake lines..I've not had much luck making brake lines from braid... :D

The deep deep blue really suits it well too.....nice choice. ;)

I must get to mine soon.....I weakened a week ago and got this along with a '62 Pontiac.....

For the age of the molds, I was very surprised at all the great detail they have.

Look forward to seeing some more soon.

cheers

Greg

  • 2 weeks later...

Update....

Reading Marcos' build of his 1960 Ford Starliner, he mentioned that he was ordering resin headlight buckets for his kit. I decided to try and see if I couldn't use the kits headlight buckets. here's some pics of what I did....

IMG_1606.jpg

I cut the headlight buckets from the kit grill, and then separated each bucket, and then trimmed them....

IMG_1604.jpg

I then sanded the backside to make them thinner....

IMG_1610.jpg

Here they are laid out on the photo etch grill....

Let me know what you think....

How about if you install the headlight buckets from the inside instead? Or.... box stock, eh? Maybe they should go on the outside... I was thinking "trick stuff style" I guess....

It would be cool looking Hans, but I'd have to grind out the holes in the photo etch to make it work.... too much hassle. Thanks for the idea anyway.

I have the 2000 release of this kit and the etch set. Reading Marcos thread, I was wondering about this. Looks like you have the solution. Thanks and great looking build you have going.

Later, :P

You're welcome Kenny! I'm glad I could help you out with this idea. I didn't want to wait another 2-3 weeks for the resin parts to arrive.
