  1. Jonathan, did you get the correct rear box piece and tail lights on there? There's 2 different tail pieces and 2 different pairs of tail lights in the kit. I didn't notice until too late and had to rip it apart and swap them out. 🥴
  2. I can see a mod such as that in the interest of driveability. I'm not keen on having to let the T/A warm up in the morning before I take it on the road ,, and the carb was set up by one of the best, if not THE BEST Quadrajet guys in the province. What could never understand though was swapping out dashes. I remember several cars in Custom Rodder and Hot Rod Magazine among others back in the '80s where the owner swapped out S-10 dashes and the like. One I particularly remember was a '57 Chevy hardtop with said S-10 dash. If I had an old car from the '50s or '60s I'd want to be looking out over the original dash, not something out of a bland newer vehicle.😉
  3. Exactly. "kit chrome" is not even remotely like "real car chrome". I've been painting over it for 50 years now, no problem. If in doubt, go find an old glue bomb model someone has painted over the chrome and see how easily the paint comes off the chrome. 😈
  4. It really irks me that wallys in the states has those Demons and my local shop couldn't even get his full order of them. I couldn't even get one even though I was on the wait list.
  5. The one on the left is the MPC wheel I mention in my post included in the Firebirds and 'switcher 32. The one on the right is from the '80s Monogram BMW 635.
  6. I don't think you'll get a response from the OP, Noel. If you hold your cursor over his signature pic you'll see he hasn't been here in over 9 years.
  7. The steelies were in the 5 window kit.
  8. The MPC 3rd gen firebirds all had a set like that in them. Originally as the custom option but later as the GTA wheels. The same ones are in the "Switchers" '32 Ford kits, last reissued as the "Coke" delivery kit. The Monogram Buick GNX and some of their later 3rd gen Firebirds also have similar wheels but in 1/24 scale.
  9. What's wrong with the MPC kits, Mike? I think they have an excellent engine and suspension and very accurate bodywork. Only weak point I can think of is the interior. They didn't update the dash from the earlier trucks and the seats could be better but beside that?.
  10. Is this the car you mean, Joe? IF it is actually a '79 GM color, I'd say it's code 21 pastel blue. BUT of corse being a race car it could be just about anything. At first glance, it looks like early '70s Ford diamond blue to me. But here's a pic of the '79 GM chart with the pastel blue on it.
  11. I wonder how close this is to the '78 pace car kit that's been reissued several times. Seems it might be the same kit with the IMSA flares and other bits added but I've never had a chance to compare them.
  12. Nice score but I think you'll find those Hubley Fords were actually 1/24 scale, maybe even 1/23. I'd always wanted one too until I seen how big they actually are.
  13. They were both in the Monogram catalogue at the same time for several years.
