roym
Hi all. I've built the AMT 78 Trans Am kit; happy with how it looks but am aware of its shortcomings. I also have a Revell 71? T/a in the stash and it looks nice in the box. In time I'd like to do a 79/80 and revisit a 77/78. Can anyone comment on the preferred kits (MPC/Revell/Monogram/Testors/whoever) or point me to an inbox/review feature? Body Shape & detail is more important than fit or engine/chassis detail. Cheers in advance Roy
Casey
http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77252&hl=%2Btrans+%2Bam http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2812&hl=%2Btrans+%2Bam#entry936046 The body in the 1/24 Revell (Monogram) '78 T/A is pretty good, though the interior and underside details are a bit simplified. The new die-cast based 1/24 '77 from Revell is a totally different kit, but you can read the review above and see what's different. Monogram released 1/24 kits of the '79-'81 T/As, too, and they are similar to the 1/24 '78 kit which is currently available under the Revell name. roym
Second question, anyone know of a source of door mirrors for the AMT kit? The ones supplied are not fit for purpose.
roym
Got the Revell ex Monogram 78 3in1 kit at the LMS for a steal; €10. Normally 1/24/25 cars are in the €25 range. He seems to have found a stash of them, picked up a 53 Corvette and Ford Expedition as well for the same price.
