RAIDER VETTE!

I started the Raider Vette almost 2 years ago. I got most of the Body Work done, in the rough. Then I got sidetracked by several other projects and the Raider Vette was forgotten. I found the Raider Box last weekend and I started back again on the Body Work.
The Raider Vette started with an old Monogram Cylon Raider, and Body Parts from an old Monogram 1960's Corvette and a Cherry Bomb Show Rod.

The First Cuts!

Here is the top of a built Cylon Raider I got on Ebay. I put the Built-Raider Model in a Ziplock added water and then put it in the freezer overnight. I took it out the next day and most of the glue joints released with just a little effort.

I cut out this rectangular shape with a razor saw. Making room for Corvette parts...

Next I cut the front end off of the Vette.

Imbed the Vette!

I made these two little cuts so that the sides of the Vette Front would fit better.

Cherry Bomb Bubble!

I'm going to use the Cockpit and Bubble Top from an old Built-Up, Monogram Cherry Bomb.

DSCN7582R_zpsfarttyso.jpg

First I cut the Cockpit from the Top section as shown.

Next I cut off the this piece of the bottom section, for the back of the Top.

Positioning the Bubble!

I cut away part of the Corvette Hood and the Flat Area behind the Cockpit Area. Then I cut a piece of sheet plastic and covered the Flat Area that I had cut away.

Test Fit! Looks pretty good.

DSCN4081C_zpscsn8ci1q.jpg

Then I glued the Cockpit in place with Zap-A-Gap Glue.

New Raider Engines!

The 2 Big Engines from the Pod Racer Kit look just right for the Raider Vette!

DSCN7707R_zps2ocylv4a.jpg

I cut off some of the Rear Engine Covers from the underside to make room for the New Engines.

Then I cut away excess plastic from the top to clear the Engines.

Zig Zag Cuts!

I used and X-Acto Knife and Files to make these Zig Zag Cuts on the rear of the Corvette Body. These cuts fit the Engine Fairings that are from the rear of the Cylon Raider.

Then I cut a piece of sheet plastic to fill the big hole and glued it in place.

Here are the Engine Fairings and the Cabin Shielding set in their new positions.
