thnx :)

finally found something for the walls , the thing is due to the hotrod builds the garage got a bit on the sidetrack ..

also i just was not happy with the walls ..

i just did not have the time and will to make every single stone and build up the walls .. just dont have the time with the hotrod builds , wich are more important and fun for me then the garage ..

today i went to a larger store for glue , styrene , brass and more and found these printed walls (made for train sets) its not just a flat print its a bit 3-d so there are depths in between the bricks ... not a whole lot but enough so it does not look terrible..

they where cheap so i decided to buy some and try it out ..

on the pics i only placed a few loose pieces to see how it looked , not glued or trimmed perfect

with a bit of weathering i think they will look cool

188256_261987050600879_1376211273_n.jpg

so if i paint the pillars metal like and make some cross braces i can make the walls out of these sheets .. could be done even nicer by making the bricks yourself but timewise i'm going to use these

well started fitting the 3-d brick sheets

as a whole , made sides from ribbed plastic , that actually came from old window blinds for your house ...

It all looks great Richard !! With or without the brick. You can see some of my scratch built rock and brick work on page 2 of Dioramas. They are time consuming tho. Your work looks great !!

thnx and yes i know thats what i was planning to do but found it too timeconsuming in between car builds (lazy me hehehehe)

Very nice Diorama.. I want to make one some day soon.

thnx !

now that the walls are done (base) its really progressing again , still need a ton of detail , also will add more pillars and some cross members pillar floor plates with bolts etc later on

first painted the pillars and wall plating roughly in silver

16359_262571113875806_1038746869_n.jpg

21782_262571100542474_653920989_n.jpg

then weathered all of that and added a thick edge on the wall plates made from styrene

538139_262571140542470_1989975079_n.jpg

535584_262571130542471_487837007_n.jpg

then painted that edge matt green and also repainted the window frames in that green so it matches and i can use that color on more details , needed to be a color that was not too bright

285314_262571317209119_311018585_n.jpg

really getting that industrial feel i was after now , and with real detail work like piping , real lighting , sockets , bolts etc

it will really come to life more

thnx ..

just the base i want to weather the walls and maybe remove a few bricks and fill them with bondo and make it look like the space is filled with concrete

maybe paint some stones a third color with a small brush

also found some cool stuff to build heaters hanging on the wall

need to ad more pillars on the right wall , some wire cross braces

real lighting

got enough idea;s to keep me going for a while :)

started some weathering.

first > in real life it looks way less dramatic as on the pics , less black

i washed in all the seems to create more depth , will get some lighter grey tones

also its just a base to build on

did some mild weathering on the bricks and the window frames got a sand on the edges so there are parts of bare wood

today i started the washes on the floor , after i washed the edges on the walls to add depth i needed to make a dark wash for the floor so it was more balanced

47867_264947713638146_742575293_n.jpg

also did some more fith and exhaust gass stains on the walls

164444_264947730304811_656687497_n.jpg

11028_264947756971475_1796314366_n.jpg

found a box of tehse plastic things this week and the second i saw them i thought about a big hanging workshop heating system

542773_264947770304807_644645198_n.jpg

i made them thicker by glueing 2 together and make 3 like that and then glue the 3 pieces together

563281_264947853638132_119579446_n.jpg

then used all sorts of misc.. parts from my partsboxes

734915_264947860304798_65691011_n.jpg

added hoses wich will run through a panel i will make in one of the small windows of the most right garage window so they can suck in fresh air

382172_264947840304800_1115203359_n.jpg

then just as a base i sprayed the thing silver

65580_264947916971459_1349441524_n.jpg

65580_264947896971461_1744188439_n.jpg

13154_264947913638126_2062669530_n.jpg

need to add all sorts of piping and wiring etc .. made do the side housing red like the lift i have build

then came the time to give the heater some soul lol

painted the house red , gave it some weathering and rust ....

549434_264983296967921_1263898623_n.jpg

painted the bottom openings (biggest one) dark grey inside for more depth

13128_264983270301257_1609196375_n.jpg

will hang here and the hoses will be on a panel i will make in place of the bottom right window

421436_264983276967923_1343781189_n.jpg

took these decals and ade up that the brand heater was weiand , liked the logos a lot and the yellow really pops

also made a busted window and made some glass yellow , only one window in now , need to make the 3 other ones now

Just read your Entire thread, the work you are doing is awesome. I saw the diorama on your other thread with the cool hot rod and loved it, now I fully appreciate it. I thought I recognized the parts for your shop heater so, I showed them to my wife. She said they are cassette holders they use in the medical lab. Neat idea! Everything is really looking cool, makes me want to do a little more work on my garage. Thanks for sharing. B)

thnx :)

i never have a set plan like most people so it kind of grows and somtimes a build go's in a totally difefrent direction.

the attic i made and spend good time on isnt going in.

instead i'm now planning to make a steel frame attic with like rivets ..

i wanted a real industrial look at a certain point

i always loved old industrial buildings and old abandoned building pictures with busted windows and ... so that feel i want to have in this garage the only difference is this is used and not abandoned

made a frame from styrene

533079_265282816937969_1289886765_n.jpg

then added a ribbed section of hard plastic (not styrene)

179689_265282826937968_1403578914_n.jpg

used some bolts from those toy finger skateboards , my son had a whole bunch of those bolts

58792_265282843604633_1456059664_n.jpg

painted and weathered the frame , the bolts actually are tight in the wood and hold the frame

525056_265282856937965_1306634237_n.jpg

19815_265282866937964_1464212772_n.jpg

with the unit

538346_265282883604629_1458709812_n.jpg

also added bolts

13226_265282903604627_1411759207_n.jpg

the bolts do give a great realism effect

539766_265282913604626_1082241780_n.jpg

164407_265282930271291_384455822_n.jpg

then did the rest of the windows

419190_265325793600338_1893969719_n.jpg

307324_265325776933673_1186866612_n.jpg

layer of base paint

535598_265325876933663_476126157_n.jpg

lighted

551308_265325860266998_182757909_n.jpg

some weathering and made the caps green and added some rust

64575_265325850266999_552675257_n.jpg

521292_265325916933659_2092630963_n.jpg

179671_265325926933658_1926919009_n.jpg
