iBorg
Is there any kits currently available or from the last few years that has a GOOD blown Chevy in it? I'd like to do a funny car which ran a BBC. Thanks, Mike
High octane
How 'bout the BBC out of the MPC '53 Ford Flip Nose truck or out of the '57 Flip nose Chevy?
1 bad55 stan
Hey Mike your could build your own,Use the blower from the funny-car an use any BBC .
iBorg
Unfortunately, I no longer have my parts box. All I have access to is what I buy. I'm thinking of the Revell Vega funny car that has the blower but lacks a lot of necessaries needed for a BBC like the proper front plate. Speedfreak
Mike, Check this out: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Big-Block-427-Chevy-Engine-Blown-Dual-Carb-Rat-Motor-1-25-Model-Parts-L-88-21-/351245942400?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item51c7e3be80
iBorg
I wonder what kit that's from? Seems buying the kit would be cheaper and I'd have some parts left over.
shift13
I would think this is from the 68 L-88 from revell but i could be wrong
Daddyfink
Doesn't the AMT 1967 Vette have a Blown BBC?
Snake45
Doesn't the AMT 1967 Vette have a Blown BBC? I think so, but I think that's also an axle-through-block kit. Should be able to use the blower parts on some other full block, though. The AMT '69 and '70 Chevelle kits used to have blowers in them. Not sure about the latest issues, though. outkast1027
If you have a long block from a kit competition resins sales the blowers and hats and hes really reasonable
Daddyfink
The key part is the intake manifold. You can scratch one, but finding a decent kit version is not easy.
afxmustang
AMT 1937 Chevy Gasser.
Rrrrrrumps
REVELL 68 roadster, bbc two optons, stock and the supercharged version, which is pretty nice. The s/c is a carb fed version, nice hat and with a little work, you can make it f/i,
Crazy Ed
Also the Revell '70 Chevelle 3 in 1 has the 454 with a Blower.
jaftygas
I wonder what kit that's from? Seems buying the kit would be cheaper and I'd have some parts left over. That is from the 68 corvette 2 in1 kit by Revell. I have about 3or4 of them just for the engine.
Chris in Berwyn
The AMT Funny Hugger II Camaro fc released by Model King a few years back has a blown rat, but I can't speak to the accuracy of that engine. All I can say is the injector scoop is too big.
Rrrrrrumps
JUST SPEAKING FROM experience and usage, Revell 68 Roadster...it's got it all. BBC, S/C, nice HAT...manual trans. It's a start.
chunkypeanutbutter
Old Monogram 1939 Chevy street rod and possibly the rereleases have an SS427 BBC with blower in it. Edited December 28, 2014 by chunkypeanutbutter
Casey
I'd like to do a funny car which ran a BBC. Can you tell us which car you're building? That might help us help you narrow down the options, too. The Revell 1/25 BBCs ('69 Camaro, '68/9 Vette, '65 Chevelle SS Z-16, etc.) are all of the block and trans halves molded together variety-- good, but better exists IMHO. Plus, the injector hat in the '68 kit is probably too new for anything which was still running a blown stock block BBC. I think the AMT '70 Monte Carlo and '68 El Camino kits' BBCs are a little nicer, and I can send you some pics of the Monte's BBC parts if needed. iBorg
I'm wanting to do the Kelly Chadwick Vega from 1971 or 1972. Here's a link to it: http://www.photoblat.com/jimheller/chadwick-7002-p.jpg I know the injector/blower hat will need to be scratch built. I figure between the BBC and the Revell kit, I should have a close match. I haven't been able to find much on the motor.
Chris in Berwyn
It does not have a blower hat does it? Those four tube injectors are fairly common in kits I think. I think but am not sure that either the Revell or AMT parts pack Pontiac have it, as does the recent Revell chi town fc.
Casey
Yep, no hat/scoop, just the Hilborn injector atop the blower: I'd be willing to bet his '69 Camaro ran a very similar setup, with a stock type block, chrome low valve covers, Cyclone headers, etc.
