Revell 67 Camaro

Another kit I won't be buying as I'm not into Chevies. So, there's one "extra" out there for someone.

I wonder why John is looking at reviews on Camaros if he's not planning on buying one? Just writing to vent your dislike of Chevys John? Kind of a jerky thing to do. I wonder what cars you like that I don't (though I tend to like most everything), so I can go on those reviews and tell you something similar. It's fine that you have no interest in Camaros. Not everybody likes the same thing.

I'm looking because it's a forum and I want to see reviews of this product. I want to know if Revell is doing any better, quality-wise, than they have with some of their other recent releases. Partially, to covertly express my opinion that, even though this might be another greatest-thing-since-sliced-bread (or, whatever contemporary comparison you choose) kit, I won't buy it. I fell into that trap some years back; fortunately, I was able to get rid of a majority of those kits, but life is short and I am at the point where I won't buy a kit unless it floats my boat (yes, I'll even buy a boat kit).

And, finally- yes, to air my non-Chevy bias (strange as it might be to some, I do have some Chevies on my shelves, both kits and completed). It is a forum; I am opining. You, too, can do the same on any reviews you so choose, if it makes you feel better.

Putting down others and their likes does not make me feel better.

I'm not putting down anybody and I don't see how you can infer differently from my posts. I merely mentioned that I am biased against Chevies, and that I won't buy any particular kit just because it's popular. Who do you think that might that offend put down?

Oddly enough, my first ride in a car was a Chevy. I would buy a blue and white '53 210(I think...) 4 door for my "stable" if I ever hit Lotto. I even have a picture of a similar car on my phone. Go figure.

Not agreeing with a poster/disliking a revell product/questioning a revell product-is the same thing as putting these people down. They feel a personal hurt when anything but graces are said about revell. Sadly, it will always be this way. Just ignore them. They don't know any better.

I will buy one. And throw the rims away !

Won't care about these 13-inch Rallies, and will look for some 1967 Deluxe Wheel Covers, simulated Mag Wheel Covers, or just era-correct custom wheels.

I also hope the resin guys will offer what we need to build 327s and 250 Grocery-getters...

The "racer" version just looks silly to me....tiny wheels, hoop roll bar and a big block are not the pieces that make up a road racer.

I'm more surprised than disappointed though. about how wrong they got it...

Wasn't the Trans-Am cars 302 cu in and not 396 cu in?

Yes.

Not to mention the wrong hood, etc. I assume this was just a low effort for box art filler...they threw in a few extra parts so they could call it a 2n1.

It will be interesting to see if hoods and other parts from the Revell '69 Camaros can be swapped in with some modification...

In the words of my old Sgt. Major: "Stand down gentlemen...stand down!"

The list is an overview of the displacements that were "FACTORY" installed in 1st Gen Chevy Camaro`s (1967 thru 1969)...not a list of displacements available specifically in 1967 Camaros..sorry for any confusion. Of course we all are aware that the High-Performance Dealerships like Dana, Yenko, Gibb, Nickey, Motion, Berger etc. did in-house dealership modifications after taking delivery of the vehicles.

Hopefully the below list will clarify to the matter:

First-generation engines

  • 1967–1969 L26 230 cu in (3.8 L) I6 140 hp (104 kW)
  • 1967–1969 L22 250 cu in (4.1 L) I6 155 hp (116 kW) at 4200 rpm, 235 lb·ft (319 N·m) at 1600 rpm
  • 1967–1969 Z28 302 cu in (4.9 L) V8 290 hp (216 kW) (rated) 350 hp (261 kW) actual
  • 1967–1969 LF7 327 cu in (5.4 L) V8 210 hp (157 kW)
  • 1967–1968: L30 327 cu in (5.4 L) V8 275 hp (205 kW)
  • 1969: L14 307 cu in (5.0 L) V8 200 hp (168 kW)
  • 1969: LM1 & L65 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 255 hp (190 kW) and 250 hp (186 kW)
  • 1967–1969 L48 SS350 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 295 hp (220 kW) (1969 300 hp (224 kW)) at 4800 rpm, 380 lb·ft (515 N·m) at 3200 rpm
  • 1967–1969 L35 SS396 396 cu in (6.5 L) V8 325 hp (242 kW) at 4800 rpm, 410 lb·ft (556 N·m) at 3200 rpm
  • 1968–1969 L34 SS396 396 cu in (6.5 L) V8 350 hp (261 kW) at 5200 rpm, 415 lb·ft (563 N·m) at 3200 rpm
  • 1967–1969 L78 SS396 396 cu in (6.5 L) V8 375 hp (280 kW) at 5600 rpm, 415 lb·ft (563 N·m) at 3600 rpm
  • 1968–1969 L89 aluminum cylinder head option for the L78 SS396/375 engine—lightened the engine by ~100 lb (45 kg).

I did a little checking, the L65 was not available in the first generation Camaro, per the General Motors Heritage site. The LM1 255 hp 350 was available, though, but only in '69.

What has me worried is the grille.

Model Car Mountian on eBay has a very good photo of the model from the box art.Compare it to a photo of a real grille and you'll see what I mean.

Looks like the inner bright horizontal lines above and below the parking lights (see 1:1 photo below) aren't painted on the box art model..
