Dr. Cranky
I spent the morning working on the theater floor using planking from the dollhouse section of the craft store. Here's what I got so far, if you want to check out the video go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-wb3rchiZ0:

The floor is done . . . but there's still plenty to do. Here's a glimpse of what we have so far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT9m9GzNPLI:

Dr. Cranky
Here's a technical question in hopes someone can answer it. What is the standard height for the chair rails for a wall? Is it about 4 ft? I want to create a wood rail (if that's what they call it) all around the room with wall paper below the rail . . . Mercman
I think it was 36 in's.
Dr. Cranky
Thanks, Junior, that's perfect. I can work with that . . . .
Harry P.
There's no "official" chair rail height. Ask 10 carpenters and you'll probably get 10 different answers. One "rule" says 1/3 of the way up from the floor to the ceiling, another "rule" says 36" no matter what the ceiling height. Anything between about 28" to 38" or so would be "right." I say do what looks good and proportional to your eye.
Dr. Cranky
Thanks, Harry, you are probably right . . . I just did a little preliminary research and there's nothing standard . . . probably not even way back in the parlor room days . . . or the days of the red light district houses . . . so yes, I will eyeball it and see how it goes. Dr. Cranky
Getting the walls ready, stay tuned in for some more progress . . . I keep testing the look of everything. Man, thank heavens most of this stuff is movable and portable.
