Hey guys,

Up for something fresh...? :P Received my very welcome package from Terry @ FPM (Flashpoint Motorsport) last Friday. :D

This probably wont see a whole lotta work for a little bit...still gathering some odds'n'ends plus searching for reference....but it's a start......

The body is quite heavy, and a little thick throughout, but that's more to do with keeping it in a secure form I'd say...No big deal. It IS a big body.

Once I "open" things up (doors, trunk inspection panel and removable front clip) I'll thin those areas down, to get more scale appearing openings and edges to it. :)

The body.....

Motovation will come in the form of a BAE 572 Hemi. PSI blower and hat.

Shifting (air) through a Lenco trans. B)

I think this may be a 4-speed...?? Someone confirm that. ?? If so, I'll lop a section out of it......easy. ;)

Rear end hardware is styled after a Mark Williams unit.

Terry did pretty good with this multi-piece assembly. Should look wicked once it's all together.

And what ProMod would be complete without some monster meats in the back....

These are fairly fresh from being molded...Terry has only just added them to his site. Little bit smaller than T/F tyres.....but HUGE ! :D

Ok, give me some time....but updates wont be too far away. :)

cheers guys

Greg

Yes, if someone has a secret stash or favourite site for ProMod (chassis mainly) pics that they may wish to share, I'm all ears.....:)

Greg that Lenco is a 3 Speed each section is a gear and the small one at the end is the reverser my Dads Top Alcohol Altered ran a air shifted 3 speed Lenco i hope this helps. I cant wait to see what you do with this I'm pretty keen on getting one of these big scale Pro Mods and the other parts that Flashpoint is offering just not 100% sure about the scratch building lol i think ill be giving a small scale one a go first then see what you and the other great builders do with the big scale stuff.

while you are sort of correct about the lenco you're not totally. the lenco in the package is a 4 speed. each section is a percentage of reduction plus 1:1. so each case adds a shift. two cases....two shifts. 1-2 and 2-3. 3 cases, 3 shifts. 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4. there are also 3 different flavors according to h.p. CS1, CS2 and CS3. there is also a street version ST1200.

this is an air shifted lenco 3 speed with a reverser.

this is a manually shifted 4 speed.

i hope this helps.

it's great having someone on the board who actually worked at lenco. how cool is that! after a recent bout of bashing i took on another site over me calling my 1/8 camaro an outlaw 10.5 car while it is an extreme 10.5 car. i will try to be careful with how i word things. recent rule changes in the NHRA rule book allow a maximum of 3 forward speeds and reverse for supercharged entries and a maximum of 5 forward speeds and reverse for all others.

from the NHRA rule book:

TRANSMISSION, Manual

Aftermarket planetary

or clutchless transmission permitted. All transmissions must be equipped with an SFI Spec 4.1 transmission shield. Supercharged entries limited to maximum of three forward speeds and reverse; all other entries limited

to maximum of five forward speeds and reverse. Aftermarket converter drive units permitted. When an aftermarket converter drive is utilized, an SFI Spec 6.1 or 6.3 flywheel shield and an SFI Spec 29.1 flexplate are mandatory. Lockup converters and overdrive units are prohibited. A 1-to-1 relationship is mandatory in high gear for all transmission types. Automated shifters and/or timer/rpm-type shifting devices prohibited; each individual shift must be a function of the driver. Shifting must be controlled by manual or pneumatic means only (driver pulls the lever or pushes the button); electric or electronics may in no way affect the shifting mechanism.

while the ADRL and other OUTLAW pro mod sanctioning bodies have no restrictions at all on the number of forward gears.

please don't take this as nitpicking you mr68gts but, after the incident on SA i just wish to be accurate. you know more about lenco's than i will ever know. as a matter of fact, i'm considering putting one in an upcoming 1:1 project i'm doing and wonder if i can pick your brain on the matter?

Thanks for the great support guys. :)

Thanks for the input Dave, and to Paul for chiming in too. ;) With the wealth of info available from you guys around here, no wonder we keep coming back. ;)

Cheers for your input too Jason, it's all valuable and greatly appreciated. B)

Yep, step up to a 1/16 build when the time is right Jason. The stuff from Flashpoint is pretty well spot on, and one of the few (not even sure who else does big scale ?) doing larger ProMod stuff. :o

I will be building the chassis up from plastic tubing. Thought of going brass, but plastic is easier to work with. :P

So, looks like I'll be needing to chop a chunk outta the box.....does it matter which section I remove? I take it the first two/three section are the same, 'cept for gears.....

Thanks again guys, expect some action soon....................................B)

Greg

PS: Dave, PM replied, thanks heaps mate. ;)
