1/25 AMT/Model King '72 Chevy Blazer

It is a 40 year old kit and shows it's age. I have one almost completed and don't recall any real issues. Pretty much the only game in town for this vehicle and despite a less than inspiring chassis, it build pretty decently.

If you can find one at a reasonable price, go for it!

I have a DM600 in the stash, so I probably won't get another one. Probably. :P I remember building the "Blue Devil" destroyer back in the 1980s. It's a big kit; needs a lot of work to make an accurate Fletcher-class destroyer, but a fun build none the less.

Basically, The Jimmy & Blazer are the Same.

Just the fender badges and grill are different

And, If you Look Closely, The Jimmy Badges are Still there on the Chrome tree

And the 4 Head-light lenses are on the clear tree in the Model-King issue!!

I have 2 and see them every time I look at them.

I believe those parts have been in the other previous issues too

Maybe we can get Round2 to put the GMC grill back in the box to give us a 2n1

with 2 STOCK Brand options!!

I have one of those "Bushwacker" issues too,. and Yes, it has the Trail-Bike

I believe that same Trail-Bike was in the '6-Wheeler' issue of AMT's 80's Ford Van

And the Original Bigfoot-1 4x4x4 kit (Same F Series as the recent re-issue

Firestone Super Stones Pickup. (I have that one too)

I am hoping that 69 Cougar has the Original & Count-down series issues engine & exhaust in it.

I need to look at mine again then.

Though, The GMC letters are Not TOO hard to find in a Kit.

They are in the COE semi. and I think they were separate parts in the 72 Stepside pickup kit

I also have parts leftover from the General & Bison 1/32 Semi cabs from Monogram

I can Foil-cast them off the General if I did not cut them off or trade those parts

You also need the hood with the GMC lettering on the front. The hood from the Jimmy has better defined letters than the pickup and should hold up well under primer and paint. The pickup's lettering is a different story. The tail gate also has the GMC lettering. But, those letters are a little faint. I have an original that needs restored. Modelhaus makes the hood, grille and tail gate for the GMC Jimmy. So, those parts are just an order away.

I wish I had known this kit was coming. I sure wouldn't have shelled out the $40 for the Model King version I bought. :( I'll have to check for those badges and head light lenses. As I recall, the GMC grilles have molded in chrome head lights like the '72 Chevy does. The GMC pickups do for sure.

Roger,

I just checked the Modelhaus website and didn't see the conversion kit for the Jimmy, are you sure they have the parts? I want to build a Jimmy and I can't remember who had the parts, I thought it might be Bandit Resins but they aren't listed on their website either.

If you have a link or a list of the part numbers, please share.

I couldn't swear to that Mike. I'm pretty sure it was Don. I was looking for the parts to restore an original glue bomb. But, I didn't order them. It could have been Bandit Resins. I'll check into it. If I can get my hood and tail gate restored properly, I'll have something someone could cast. My tail gate will be tough. The original builder glued a parachute on it.

Perhaps we can pool our efforts? I have a tailgate that's best kind, other than having the paint stripped from it.

I, too, have a Jimmy glue bomb that I'm trying to restore; the body was horrendously warped. I have a spare Bushwacker Blazer body that I was planning to use, but it has a broken windshield frame. If all the Jimmy-specific chrome and clear parts are still on the Crew Chief's trees, I'll use one of those as a base! B)
