ALMS Laguna Seca pictures '09

Recommended Posts

Here's some pictures of the ALMS Race. Would have had more pictures but it got dark because of the fog and I didn't bring my flash for my camera. Good race except for the GT3 Cup cars. Essentially they were moving speed bumps. I don't know how many close calls I saw going into the corners that these cars almost were hit by the other cars.

Here's a link.

Nice collection of Pic's - Thanks. Told my Wife if I'd have been there I would have missed most of the Race due to Taking Pic's of the Chaparrals' . I notice the 2K was there also. Did Jim haul any other of the Chaparrals other than the 2A, E and K?

Ed...Those were the only three Chaparals there. JIm Hall was there, but didn't get his picture. Wish I did. Hall drove the E and Gil drove the Indy car on a parade lap.

The TV coverage didn't show the 2K on track at all. There was the 2A, E and Gil's repainted and numbered Acura. I thought Gil drove the Chaparral 2"A".

Thanks for sharing the picture, Brendan! You got some really good shots there! I have a question for you: did you get a look inside the Compuware Vettes? I am considering converting a Corvette to a GT2 car and was wondering what stock parts they used inside (dash, console, etc.) Any help would be appreciated! Ed

I was in the pits when they went out but I didn't see the 2A go out. Though I guess it did go out.

I didn't get any good shots of the interior of the Corvettes because of the way the pit structure is at Laguna. It's like Formula 1 pits for some of the teams. And it's harder to get access to the cars. I almost always wait till they get lined up to go out on the track to get shots. As for finding references, it's either this month's or last month's Corvette magazine had a really good article on the GT2 car. If you can't get it, let me know. I might be able to pick up one.
