Mack Cruiseliner COE

Lindberg will be reissuing:

I couldn't say anything until the the official announcement. Although the Mack RS688 was a complete surprise!

As for how I know.. lets just say a little birdie told me.

Yes, the Mack R was out about 5 years ago and sold out quickly. Stevens' paid for the limited run back then and are running it again.

I received the same information from the people at STS Model Trucks.

Its about time some more model trucks were re-issued

Happy days are here again.

Cheers Everybody

I am a longtime truck modeler, and greatly respect the work turned out by people here, it's inspiring. But, I just cannot get excited about reissues of 35-year old (or older) kits, without any upgrades, at high prices. What we eagerly accept from manufacturers and reissuers would make the model railroaders laugh until they can't breathe. They've got the latest motive power and rolling stock with state-of-the-art tooling, factory-assembled etched components, finescale detail, and digital control and sound. I can only guess that the U.S. market for truck models is so small that there is not sufficient potential for providers to chance investment on new kits.

You hit the nail on the head. The 1/24-1/25th scale truck market is small and the USA based companies don't have the money to spend to create new toolings of truck kits. Italeri is trying to save money by creating new truck kits with 1 piece frames and no engines. Revell of Germany hasn't had a new truck kit in 26 years.

Yeah, I had a hunch that the model truck scene was real small. Up until a couple of years ago, I thought that only car & aircraft model kits existed. Then, I discovered Trumpeter's 1/35 scale Type 59 tank, which got me into model building. I got into truck model building upon seeing AMT's Chevy Titan, which also surprised me.

Anyways, on the reissue subject: I'm still patiently waiting for that Autocar A64B to be released, though my patience is running a bit thin, and I'm pretty close to labeling it as the model kit equivalent of Duke Nukem Forever ("when it's done"). Of course, I'm used to the concept of a product arriving on a certain date, with few or no delays.

As for the others, I knew about the Mack Cruiseliner, but not the RS688 or the Fruehauf flatbed. I also wonder: How many times are they going to reissue the Dodge L700? Is that the hottest thing on the truck model market or something?

On the Mack RS688: Is there any difference between this & the other trucks in the Mack R-Series? It looks like a heavy-duty truck to me.

One final note: I'd love to see a reissue of the Ertl International F-2674. Those are hard to find on Ebay, & command pretty high prices.

Tim,

'North American'.....that was the word I'm was looking for instead of US.

I found that approximate T2000 toy a couple of weeks ago and now another store had a RC toy truck that really looked like a Pete 387.

The size however, mentioned about 8 inches wide :(

Hopefully one day a clever manager ( :) ) will allow one of the kit manufacturers to issue a current kit.......I'll keep on dreaming.......

Regards,

Arjan
