well, i wouldnt say im new to paints, i have been a body tech for about 12 years now. BUT, i am new to hobby painting though.. i'm aware you have to be careful with putting types of paints over others, but i was just wondering what brush paints look better than others. i notice with my very first project in years, that the testors paints are kind of crappy. i believe they are enamels, i'm not sitting right in front of them right now, but i think they are enamels. ive noticed it takes a lot to cover the white up, and the brush strokes show as well. it's probaly just me, im sure, being new and all, but i try to go in just one direction when brushing, but it still seems to look kind of bad. maybe it's time for an airbrush, i'm used to useing base/clear or single stages, and rubbing out, on real cars that is, not small plastic ones..lol.. thanks for all the answers guys!

whats your guys' favorite, or best brush paints that you use? i'm talking about for painting engines and such. i just bought the testors stuff and i was thinking of ordering the tamiya stuff, they do have brush paints don't they?

sorry guys, im new and im sure this ones been asked a million times so lets make it a million and one. how do you guys get your fine details painted like the dashboard gauge cluster? drybrushing like i think ledsled pointed out? or things like in the interior tub, the door panel lines, and the window cranks. the tiny pieces all around, how do some of you guys attack these things? sorry for picking your guys' brains, i just want to learn as i go, and get better with each one. call me impatient i guess..

thatnks for the heads up on the bumper! ya, im new to the hobby, well if you call building when i was 12 for a bit expirenced, then yes, im new to it..lol..i love stangs too..my dad retired from ford (38 years) so ford and stangs run through my blood.. weve restored a 65, 66, 67, and he puts around on a 69 mach that he's had forever. ive actualy never owned one to be honest with ya, but i still love'em. to be completely honest my heart lies with my 69 lemans that was my first ride, but ford put food on the table so what can ya do..lol.. thanks again!

i started last night. i just sanded the body down and got it in primer. i started to paint the block, im going for a ford blue well as close as possible. the body, im going for a gloss black, try to make it look mean. im new to the hobbly, well new to the details and such, so im probaly just going to stick to the basics for now. i don't know, i think like i said, im going to keep it pretty basic, i dont like the idea of changing a mach to much, at least for me, i love the look just like it is. but ya, let me know what you are up to and maybe you'll get me to change my mind..good luck.. ill probaly post some pics tonight..

i'm sure some of you will disagree with what i picked as my first project in years but my selection was VERY limited. I finaly found a store that still carries models but only had a handful of them. i chose a 1970 boss 429 mustang. in fact someone on here is doing one too, so hopefully we can exchange ideas and issues with one-n-nother. ill post pics when i have more time...thanks for all the help guys, but im chucked full of more questions...lol.

thanks again to all of you that posted on my other thread, you guys are all very helpful and i appreciate all the insight. i haven't picked a project just yet, but i'm leaning towards a mustang or muscle car of some sort. i was wondering how you guys paint your smaller parts like engine blocks, interior pieces like the dash and sorts. i mean, how do you get so percise without getting paint all over the other parts. a zero brush, or air brush even? also when you guys are glueing and fitting parts, do you just dab glue with a toothpick and clamp it to hold it in place without getting mold lines? is it better to use super glue to hold the parts together now, and also use hobby glue as well? i rember putting seats together and where they meet, and also engine blocks, the mold lines were always visible. do i glue then sand the lines down then paint to hide them? sorry for all the questions guys, but i dont want to dive in head firts without some tricks, and you guys seem to have a lot of cool ideas and i hope you dont mind me picking your brains..
