Hot Wheels SCCA Camaro

My local club, The Georgia Mountain Modelers, recently had a group build project called "The Georgia Connection".....we could choose any subject we wanted, as long as it had something to do with our home state of Georgia. Since I don't have any road racing cars in my collection, I chose to build the 1993 Hot Wheels Camaro driven by 1992 SCCA Trans Am champion Jack Baldwin, of Marietta Georgia.

While our project didn't have any rules as far as detail level, I decided to build mine box stock, to conform to IPMS OOB rules. The only thing that didn't come in the kit, other than paint, are the seat belts made from masking tape, which I understand is legal for OOB.

This is really a nice kit. I was intimidated at first, but once all the mold lines and ejection marks are cleaned up, it goes together very well. The only issue I had was the decals....these Revell decals weren't very good to start with, and time had not been kind to them. After a few chipped and broke, I decided to weather the car to look like it just finished a tough race....that might explain the chipped decals.

This was a fun build, and building it OOB made me realize I need to work some more on my basic building skills. The best thing is....I actually finished a club project early!
