  1. Any advice on stripping Tamiya purple TS paint from an old '55 Chevy resin body? I painted the thing years ago and it turned out terrible (so the model is unfinished). I'm wary of what alcohol or other strippers might do to the body.
  2. At the Detroit Autorama I picked up Benneton B195,a Brabham BT52,and an old Revell motorcycle double kit with a Honda and a Harley.
  3. The Chuck Miller Fire Truck engine? A Chevy with a Ford valve cover.
  4. I still have one of each body style, having sold off a couple of duplicates a while ago. Probably should have kept them.
  5. If you want to go with enamel paint, Testor #1203 red is the same shade.
  6. I wish I could post pics of these but I have a few bottles of enamel paint (no labels) from a gift set that was given to my Dad for Christmas circa 1953. They're still good!
  7. Went to Ollie's this past Thursday and picked up the AMT '32 Ford Street Rod and a Speed Racer , both of which were for our Dirty Santa model exchange, and the Monogram ' 57 Chevy hardtop for myself. I passed on the other kits there though I might go back and get some of them (just not that awfully ugly Monogram Firebird).
  8. At the Downriver model club annual Christmas party we have the Dirty Santa kit exchange. Last night I got a Revell Mickey Thompson Challenger I and the new AMT "21 Ford Bronco.
  9. To think I used to ride in the back of my Dad's '49 Buick sitting on the rear seat armrest. That was my "special seat" as I could see out the windshield in the gap between my parents up front. Then a few years later we would take trips to my uncle's cottage and I would ride, along with our large dog, unrestrained in the cargo area of our '57 Buick station wagon.
  10. I had a pre painted AMT '57 Chrysler that gave me fits when some of the front suspension parts would not stay glued together (yes, I scraped the surfaces). It's still not assembled. The Testor/ Pocher Ferrari TestaRossa was another mess with self-stripping screw holes, and mis-matched colors on the pre-painted parts. I knew I was in for trouble when the instruction booklet mentioned "design economies" were taken in the production of the kit.
  11. Thank you. Glad to know you enjoyed it!
  12. Motor city NNL #18 update- 391 tables for the vendor area, our highest count ever. If anyone has a desire for a table or tables for our next show in the Spring of 2024 I urge you to ask for a contract at the November 12th show and submit it as soon as possible. This November's show sold out in just over one week after the contracts were mailed out and we ended up with extensive waiting list. That's when we decided to expand the show to be fair to some of our long time loyal vendors. Plan to attend our show and patronize our vendors and bring models to display in our NNL. You'll be amazed and pleased!
  13. The Detroit Area Auto Modelers present the Motor City NNL #18 and swap meet on Sunday November 12th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Macomb County Community College Sports and Expo Center located at 12 Mile and Hayes in Warren, Michigan. Admission is still only $5 and there is no extra charge to enter your models in the NNL! Because of increased demand we have expanded the vendor area to over 380 tables! The NNL themes this year are 75 years of AMT and 75 years of NASCAR. Come see why we're one of the biggest shows in the region!
  14. Wish I could make it but our show-the Motor City NNL-is 2 weeks after this and it's impossible to handle last minute aspects of the show if we're out of town. Maybe next year!
