started on a revell / monogram 1969 dodge charger r/t ..

the plan is to do it a bit like the restomods .. i will use the kit engine and leave that stock ..

but the idea is to build it as close to stock body wise but change a few things so it will have that more modern feel without anything sticking out

1888452_429932520472997_1699386937_n.jpg

weird build plan it looks like they want you to put the taillights against the back but imo they need to sit like this from behind ..

1507584_429934107139505_28053388_n.jpg

first i flattened the whole bottom of the rear bumper so the bottom line is straight

10006203_429934103806172_18598137_n.jpg

then sanded of the chrome .. not bothered to dechrome because i will sand a lot of material of the rear bumper anyway and reshape it

1939991_429934113806171_1279623315_n.jpg

because i wanted flush seems and the seem below the bumper is very wide on a real dodge i placed it against the bottom .. that way the recess for the lisense plate on the bumper met up with the ongoing recess in the bottom splash pan ...

1800255_429934143806168_520927293_n.jpg

the made it all flat so the bumper was flush with the splash pan and didnt stick out the sides , platicwelded some styrene on the top

rough bondo

a example > i want mine to have much rounder lines but the idea is something similair

thnx guys and well color wise something grey with black accents .. i think that will look cool .. nice and glossy

i drilled open the recess of the dueal reverse lights .. i think it micht be cool to put in the reverse lichts deep / sunken ...

or i could just clean it and no reverse ....

sanded off the edge alog the wheel well that resembles a chrome strip and flattened the rear quarters

1959382_430004227132493_1899412458_n.jpg

and flattened the trunk and did the panellines on the trunk

1958417_430004243799158_2077142334_n.jpg

real rough but coming together

10013830_430004317132484_1223985695_n.jp

the front need a lot of work to begin with it doesnt fit good and second if i look at stock chargers i get the feeling its not 100% accurate .. but no worry the front will become a bit sleeker also

started to assemble some basic stuff

1521557_430686017064314_1920472878_n.jpg

just for fun i dryfitted these wheels , kind of looks nice .. but the idea is to put on bigger modern rims ......

1508577_430686063730976_2082219805_n.jpg

made the rear bumper one piece with teh splashpan , made panellines on the side .. still very rough but after finetuning it will become a snug fitting rear bumper painted in bodycolor as a modern twist - mod

thnx and yes i will put bigger wheels on there ..

that front was like whow nothing fitted and every line was screwed .. so i altered the grille so it could move in a tad deeper and the wings and bonnet stuck beyond it and going from a picture from a charger reshaped the winge and bonnet as neir as the original as i could ..

the shape is 80% finished needs some finetuning and i will add the splashpan and make sure the ends i cut of the bumper are filled and then fill the bumper reces in the wings and make sure it hugs tight just like in the rear

1508175_430737360392513_1962375082_n.jpg

there where square recesses fot the exhaust the kit provides square exhaust tips , i made those round to match the backup light holes .. and filed like a step into it

1925298_430737357059180_1378498957_n.jpg

with the lenses in

thnx bruse and whell thats actually a nice idea .. but i think the 2 round ones look better .. in between the tails it will be a bit cramped and like maybe messy

then i'd rather go for symetry

and i think it should not become to clean / smooth ..

thnx guys ..!

whel long story short the kit idea is to fit the chassis , then the front splash pan and the grille/bumper part ..

you cant fit the splash pan to the body at the front otherwise the chassis wont go in..

so i made the grille / bumper and splashpan one piece wich now slides in as one ...

pic is just after gluying , didnt do any sanding or making the stuff sit flush

1507711_431063397026576_940673749_n.jpg

so this is now one piece that slides in perfect

1977406_431063417026574_2004241059_n.jpg

after some sanding and filling the bumper corners

3858_431063437026572_1673605556_n.jpg

the front of the kit is wrong .. the grille is not as deep as the original .. and the biggest issue is the thickness of the surround of the grille that material should be half as thick and the other half shout sit under the bonnet ...

so i will try to get some off and make the bonnet thicker ...

1888497_431063433693239_966952277_n.jpg

like this the chrome under the bonnet is thin and the bonnet is thicker .. btw this is about the style i want

1982278_431063453693237_961804776_n.jpg

needs more work but got the front bumper hugging close to the body

thnx guys !

i filed the edge around the grille its much thinner now , also sanded rounded edges again .. looks way better

1555380_431137113685871_1038560965_n.jpg

1920131_431137103685872_756426936_n.jpg

opened the holes where the lights sit in the splash pan .. so either they will become extra vents or i put in the lenses but much deeper ..

thnx

the indentations on the door like the vent looking shapes that just belong to the charger ... i flattened the raised edges of those .. so they are still the same shape and recognisable but look a bit more modern and fit the hood shape better ..

1184908_431503660315883_1447764708_n.jpg

1514017_431503666982549_801162388_n.jpg

also flattened the roof an sanded of the lines and structure that would make it a vinyl top ...

thnx guys !!

shot some primer today as a guideline where i need to get stuff smooth .. turned out the whole body was perfect , only on the made rear bumper and front splashpan i need to do some minour bondo and sand work

1011476_431867806946135_286482144_n.jpg

1011476_431867810279468_1828990307_n.jpg

bit rough but you can see the shape of the new rear bumper , wich is basicly the stock rear bumper without the bottom half and the splash pan worked onto the bumper with no sticking out corner pieces

you can see i filed and sanded it so the side and rear lower part cross on the side of the bumper

1011476_431867813612801_1926280161_n.jpg

1011476_431867816946134_1190668689_n.jpg

the bonnet / hood

1011476_431867820279467_15664421_n.jpg

1970832_431867963612786_552772527_n.jpg

the grille and turnable light panels actually became more detailed after primer , the bottom splash pan needs work , i didnt do anything to get that smooth i knew i had to put on some primer to really shape the transition
