The American trailers are very different to European one's and since I only build American trucks I would like to know how these trailer look like. Factory drawings would of course be wonderful but photo's or specification sheets would do. Could anyone of you help with this?? Project is for long term so no rush. I used the article that Jim mentioned as a guide when I built mine a few years ago. I also used the Rogers Trailers web site as a guide for building the neck, they have drawings on their site in PDF format All I can say is... WOW! That is a great scratch built lowboy. The Pete in front of it is far from a slouch too! This is what I'm talking about when I say we need updated trailers and trucks. I am not up there with the scratchbuilders quite just yet. So that would be a trailer I'd buy in a second if some plastic model company would dare to make one. Just like I did with the Moebius Lonestar. Let's have 53 foot flatbeds, spread axle step decks, lowboys, reefers, food grade tankers, Nascar type racing transport trailers, 3 and 4 axle oil tankers, chemical tankers, dumpers,2 axle dollies. There is no shortage of subjects! How about it boys? Moebius, a Prostar maybe? Round 2? Revell?(Oh by the way, let's have them with the 2 and/or 5 hole budd wheels please...)Please, please, please! Bowtienutz Posted December 2, 2011 Share Posted December 2, 2011 Cappy When you take pictures if you would tape a ruler to the trailer, shoot parallel to the trailer. Walk parallel to the trailer moving the ruller as you go. Any photos shot at an angle screws up the geometry and makes it hard to draw scale drawings. I had originally bought the AMT lowboy for it, but it was too narrow. The D8 is way too wide, even as a "WIDE LOAD" cargo. I had wanted to convert it into a fire service trio. Thanks. I can't find out about the way the bed is attached to the neck. Sure the two guidance pins in the front are visible, but what happens when the bed lifts.
