OK... I just had to delete a bazillion posts.

What on earth does the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court ruling have to do with "What did you get today?"

Everyone has an opinion on the case. If I could, I'd write several paragraphs on my thoughts about it... but religion and politics... the very basis of the case... aren't allowed here.

Thank you....

I got a new starter bolt. The old one apparently work-hardened, became brittle and broke off flush with the mounting boss. Took my poor, harried mechanic over 4 hours to get that bugger out.

Tomorrow is a new alternator for my mother's car. Yay.

The one in my area didn't have to many on clearance but I was a few days getting there. There are so many kits they yet to have like the 70 revell cuda and new mustang police car and many others. I picked up a 67 sox and martin for 8 bucks....

Ya, did that this morning and will do again tonight. Had to have some pool service last week, so for the thread as to what I got new--I got a new pool backwash valve for my birthday..the service guy explained it, but I'm not totally clear on the pool mechanicals, but something w/ the pump backwash mechanism wasn't working well and green crud was accumulating. The water seems to be clear now.

Those backwash valves start to get stuck when they are not operated on a weekly basis. Enough to actually pull the sealing o-rings off, or just tear them in half sometimes. Even break the handle off at times.

Yea, pools are just inverted boats! Holes to sink money into! I thought I got off easy this year. Last year my main pump was seized upon opening.. that was $600. This year start up went without mishap until I tried the hot tub. Bubble pump bad. $300. Now the Polaris won't go on at all. It was working fine. Then the valve at the pool wall went bad, putting too much pressure on the pump which was whining. and now that pump is silent.. jury is out on how much this one will be. Maybe I'll be on tomorrow that I got a new pump!

Schneider adopted a new scheme, Matt? Last I remember, their trucks were a kind of bright orange like Roadway.

Nice looking rig, though. What is it?

Charlie Larkin

It's a '14 Freightliner Cascadia. Schneider is still using Pumpkin Orange trucks for their OTR & Tanker Divisions. Their Regional Operations trucks are now black, and Dedicated Operations - to whit I formerly was and Matthew currently is, in this case a Wal*Mart Grocery Distribution Account - are white.

Yep Charlie, just like James said, with one addition. The brand new trucks (which I even delivered one back to the shop at the Walmart DC I work out of in Wintersville, OH with 33 miles on it when I traded my old truck in to the Columbus, OH shop) have and orange border around the black "road" stripe and "Schneider" in orange on the doors. My old ride before this one though was still one of the "pumpkin" trucks, a 2006 Freightliner Century that had a little over 652,000 miles on her when I left her in Columbus. This was the old girl.

While I do miss the old truck, I'm happy with the new one. It has much more room and is a double bunk condo, so I can start taking the better half along without being cramped into the small single bunk of the old truck, and I can stand up in the new one. The Century was a flat top cab, and to stand in it I had to hunch over or be about 6 inches shorter! There are some new features I'm still trying to get used to with the new Cascadia also, the biggest being it's "smart" cruise control system. It has a radar mounted in the front bumper that will match the speed of the vehicle in front of me if that vehicle is going slower than the cruise set speed. If a little old lady in a station wagon is doing 50 MPH and I have the cruise set at 60 MPH (the company speed limit), the cruise will automatically slow me to 50 MPH, and also tell me on the in dash display how close the vehicle in front of me is for crash avoidance, and that is whether the cruise is on or not. The cruise control also has a predictive mode, which on certain roads, will use GPS to adjust the speed for hills and curves. It will "know" from the GPS that a hill is approaching and actually go more than the 60 MPH set speed to try to maintain the set speed up the hill, then reduce the cruise throttle at the crest of the hill. The only problems I have had adjusting to the new cruise is when there are some gentle curves in the road not enough to need to slow down for and there is traffic in front of me, the radar momentarily loses the traffic around the bend and starts to resume the set speed, than when the radar "sees" the traffic again, it will slow down again. The only other issue I really have had with it, which I told the shop about when I dropped it of for it's scheduled PM Monday night while I'm home, is that I had it slam on the brakes while I had the cruise on and nothing in front of me! I had a car beside me passing me, which the radar may have caught for a second, but nothing in front of me. I told them I'm used to driving the truck, not the truck driving me! :o

Model Car Garage aluminum radiator caps, under hood insulation, & '67 GTX detail kit. From the same seller, 2 '67 Dodge Coronet R/T's with Detail Master wired distributor & fuel/brake lines. Model Car Garage aluminum radiator caps, SS mesh, brass mesh, tie wraps, window cranks, seat belt material, & '67 Dodge Coronet R/T detail kit. ALL of that for less than $60 shipped. And from another auction...'70 Chevy Chevelle SS, '70 Dodge Challenger T/A, '71 HEMI 'Cuda, and finally a Hummer H1. Those four were $37 shipped. All kits, except the 'Cuda, were open boxes but sealed bags inside. The 'Cuda is still factory wrapped. I have a couple more kits on the way, so as soon as I get those I'll get them posted as well.

Came in the mail yesterday. These Accurate Miniature kits are amazing OOB and I've been wanting one of these for YEARS!! These things usually go for a pretty penny but found it still sealed up in the plastic for 25 bucks.

I know. I was just letting them know to keep an eye out for them. the HL by me didn't have any but when I was in Sugarland and Rosenberg over the weekend they had a ton of it. I don't know if all the HL keep clearance in the same spot but here locally in Houston area its kept on the back wall in the craft area or even in the middle displays. just to let anyone know that may have not known that.

recieved this 58 buick today:

VERY lucky to find a hardtop in any condition, let alone that nice. Only two louver pieces used and no fender skirts! Is the rear bumper intact? I don't see the driver's side taillight.

By the way, the Buick's roof/glass were same as the '58 Cadillac - if you found a junk Buick body you could convert the reissue Jo-Han Fleetwood to a Coupe de Ville.

ON THE HOBBY LOBBY CLEARANCE KITS. THE HOBBY LOBBY BY ME KEEPS THEM ON THE SHELF AND THROWS A YELLOW STICKER ON THEM. THEY DO NOT PUT THEM IN A "CLEARANCE" SECTION OR A SPECIAL PART OF THE STORE. JUST AN FYI

sorry for the caps, but I was not going to retype that.
