The Phonix was made of varnished plywood fuselage, with doped linen wings. For camo, they "sponged" dark brown paint all over.

I used a base coat of Testors Modern Desert Tan (33722) , then a soft brush with watered down Americana Dk brown craft paint for the "daubing".

Finish is Valspar Flat, from a rattle can.

Great looking plane. You don't see to much Austro-Hungarian WWI stuff; mostly German. The finish is interesting. I can't decide if it looks like wood or leather.
