Jada Bigtime Muscle Corvette Z06 *pic Intensive*

So,with the great reviews that Bob and others have been giving the new JADA Mustang, I thought I would hit the HL 30% off sale and grab a Corvette Z06.

Looking at it right from the box it looks pretty good. I don't believe it's detailed as well as the Mustang. It does have the shiny white plastic. Each tree is individually packaged.

Pretty toy like. I'm going to have to say this one was probably done from their diecast mold. Its body is big and bulky and not as refined as the Revell offering.

Engine detail is lacking. Pretty much a square piece of plastic with a cover.

Headlights are molded separately from the body.

The wheels and tires are monstrous!

One thing I do like is that the rear tail lenses are already painted in clear red and yellow.

Brakes are all inclusive but well detailed and could really pop out with dome drilling and dry brushing.

My kit touts a whopping 71 pieces.

I was really hoping to see something much better, akin to the Mustang if you will. As my title suggests, I am underwhelmed with it.

However, it'll be good fodder for a custom, or something for my son to do.

Here are the parts with a body comparison between the Revell and the JADA piece at the bottom.

Here we have the Revell on the left and the JADA on the right:

And their you have it. If you want a nice Z06 model go with the Revell kit. If you want to have a cool Corvette Custom project hit the JADA piece.

Thanks for the pics. Still could be fun for a custom; seems like most of the extra size isn't from being 1/24 vs. 1/25, but the extra real-estate on the lower body/rockers to make the car look like it sits low while wearing the ridiculously oversize tires that they tuck into the body. The GT500 has the same thing going on, but to a lesser extent because it's easier to tuck the wheels in a Mustang's taller body. This one looks like it won't be as easy to make a believable street car, and I still may get one for a pseudo street racer w/C6R theme. I'll just wait for a 40% off coupon week...

You know I saw these Jada kits at HL today, I was reluctant to get them because the plastic was off of them, however I think the kits that I have seen so far are pretty good.

They aren't shrinkwrapped, they have two oval seals on the bottom of the box.

Thanks for the review, Chris.

I came close to getting one of these things at Michaels the other night. Seems they've replaced most of the AMT kits that were on clearance with a bunch of these Jada Bigtime kits. The box art on all these kits was pretty nice although the wheels and tires do seem a bit out of scale. Guess you really can't tell a book by it's cover. I still may pick one up the next time I have a spare 40 or 50% off coupon.
