crazyrichard
Awesome. Your builds are great what is the chrome spray paint you use thnx the paint is just a spray can of satin silver .. its from a big diy store in holland called : GAMMA its gamma branded and lots of modelers in holland use this .. the stuff just sprays flawless and ends up looking like this .. one downside you cant do any clear coat over it , if you do it changes into dark silver and doesnt look chrome anymore its very thin so when sprayed into a stainless bowl you can use a handbrush to paint the details by hand
crazyrichard
made some headers with pipes still rough though , made it out of the sprue window where the parts of the kit where in bend it in shape , slash cut it , hollowed out the tip with a drill .... Tom Geiger
You can make your own gas tank pretty easy... A short length of Evergreen plastic tube and the ends are the punch outs on a plastic collectibles sheet for a 3 ring binder. Glue it together, Add a gas cap from any kit source and Alclad it. and installed. The advantage is that I could decide the length to fit my model rather than settle for what was available as a kit part. And no kit part seams to deal with! crazyrichard
hi , thnx and yes i was planning that but because i did the body set up so the rear is above the dif (even futher then that)i just didnt like the look i want a clean rear end with no stuff hanging of the rear so my plan was to make a gastank under the chassis later on but its def. cool to have a round gas tank , i just wont be doing one on this model , i think when you see the end result you will understand just painted the body and chassis on color , will reveil it with pics when its dry
crazyrichard
teaser , this is just the base it needs 2 layers of clear ofter this , the suspension parts will be done in chrome same paint system as on the woody , so who saw that build will know the details in chrome roughly

crazyrichard
That is gonna be so good man nice workthnx i want to clear coat everything this weekend and then start the chrome and other colors .. i def need to do clear before the chrome because the chrome stuff i use will turn grey when cleared and it needs to stay chrome like.. going to do it just like i did on the real wood woody build , worked perfect .. on this one i left the engine loose because then its easyer to do the detail painting , but i really discovered this was of building and painting works nicer then painting everything and then assemble it still perfecting my method but atm it really works fine Edited January 17, 2013 by crazyrichard

crazyrichard
well something went wrong masking the body and a flake of paint came of , in a effort to try and safe it i painted it and hand painted the body with a hand brush and red enamel paint ........... after painting it without any stripes in the paint i kind of baked it on a radiator in my house and yes its really done by hand with paint out of tiny enamel jar , i was really amazed with this result actually could not believe i got it this nice sure spraying is always nicer but .. look at the close ups i have to do the entire chassis due to colordifference ... or maybe paint the chassis in like a metal color , grey ???? crazyrichard
after all the paint set backs , the body looked decent today . but since i handpainted it it was slightly wavy , well most people wont notoce but... so i wet sanded it and polished it with toothpaste , then got some decals on the body and clear coated the whole body i didnt want to strip the paint because of the fact its made in like 9 sections and got bondo on it the only thing that looks less now is the windowframe where it hits the body , due to the tickness of the paint its going to be hard to paint that chrome without destict lines to follow chassi clear coated and the opened radiator frame after a while baking above a radiator then did the steeelie centers in black and made the bolts chrome Edited January 20, 2013 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard
started the chrome paint did the window frame with a handbrush , i should have kept it separate and spray painted it and mounted it afterwards not perfect but i'm happy with the outcome , that was a pretty steady hand paintjob ,, i was glad when i got the lines pretty decent Edited January 20, 2013 by crazyrichard

crazyrichard
yes it was to red , maybe i wil do small chrome hubcaps in the center of the steelies to break it some more and get enough variation here made some better pics with a bit of daylight , everything is more clear on this pics .. still enough work , just a dryfit luckely the body is super smooth now ... glad i saved it going to make a inside in the black radiator house and then some real stainless mesh Edited January 21, 2013 by crazyrichard
