retroguy
I'm working on the ramchargers 64 dodge 330 candymatic but the instructions don't show if the shifter is column or floor ...
gtx6970
Actually, 1964's should be a dash mounted push button shifter
george 53
Unless of course they were 4 spds. Then they were on the floor.
Funkster
Yes; up-til 1964 all mopars had the push-botton shift on the left side of the dash. If you ordered the 64 Plymouth Sport Fury, Dodge Polara 500 and the Chrysler 300 it had the consel shift automatic on the floor with bucket seats. Funkster
Oh, yes and the 4-speed on the floor.
Ace-Garageguy
This isn't much help, but in '64 both pushbutton and floor shift configurations were available on the production automatic gearbox cars. Given a choice, I would THINK the race car would have used the floor shift, as it's more direct and simpler, but I do not know for sure. I don't think normal lever-style column shift auto trans linkage was available on production cars 'til '65. PS. Funkster hit it. The Ramcharger Candymatic used automatic gearboxes, hence the "matic" in the name. I'd still guess the race car would use a floor shift. Funkster
Correct; column was not available til 1965 on Mopar til 1965 because of federal law. The automatic shift on the floor was only on the top of the line car in each devision in Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler. As we know the Ramcharger was based on the low line(lite weight) Plymouth Savoy. 1972coronet
... and the pushbuttons reflected the pattern of the reverse manual valvebody ( e.g. , "R" , "N" , "1" , "2" , "D" , top-to-bottom ) .
Funkster
No, push botton shift was used on the race cars. None of the race cars had a floor shift as it had to be factory stock(as ordered). Never offered a floor shift car in the lower class cars.
