Gothic Kustomz
OK, here you go, this is the way I do trunk lips, they don't have to be very wide, I first cut a 1/4th wide, strip of .010 plastic sheet 2 inches long, X 2, I then mark a line about 1/32 of an inch, then super glue the strip, to the line, inside the trunk, I do the 2 side's first, now when you do the top/front of the trunk, you will have to see how far it is between the 2 side strips, there all different, after it's all said and done, it will look all blocky, you will have to file it to what you need, to give it that right look, be sure to check, and recheck, the way the trunk fits, because it's gotta sit flush, and smooth:

severin681
I just cut out the trunk for my 69 Dodge Charger and I was going to totally rely upon the hinge to hold it in place. i realize now this is a MUCH better way to go. Thanks!
Harry P.
Nice easy way to create a detail that 99.99% of modelers completely ignore. You could actually make the lip a bit wider, and if you want to go crazy with detail, use thin strips of black electrical tape to simulate the weatherseal. That will open up a few judge's eyes at your next contest...
