Ok, matt black brushed on, sanding that when its dry. Then another coat of matt black and a couple coats of shiny clear stuff. Decided im liking 1:24.

Hi Geoff, you've got me inspired, i'm going to have a crack at a mini. Don't think i'll be able to do anything near what you're achieving here, seeing all that masking tape just makes me want get the paintbrushes out. Been looking for my next project in 1:24 and this has settled it for me, a mini it is.

Some paint on the single moulding for the block, plumbings and batteries (two 6 volts batteries to make 12), apologies for the red and green in there but the rest of this car is going to be black. Body has a single coat of primer brushed on and been sanded, you can see where i had to file down some ejector marks on the front wings. I'm considering removing the bonnet hinges, they look out of scale to me. Comments welcome

Hi Anthony, keep an eye out for kits that have been started on ebay or try something a bit smaller like 1/16 instead of 1/8, you'll find 1/16 kits are cheaper. Alternatively have a look at some of the scratch built stuff on here. Above all, enjoy yourself, try and make the most of the kits you can afford.

Just trying to get a feel for 1/24 scale and yes, this is the shambolic revell london taxi kit a.k.a. Austin FX4 (it's basically a re-release of a '60s toy, there is still the box for the battery and on/off switch molded under the rear seat. Shocking I know, but then it is a cheap kit.) That's the interior done, all of it....

Thanks for your comment, there's not many three wheeler kits around. I've seen a white metal kit I think in 1/24 but I wouldn't know where to start with one of those.

So here goes, this is how far I've got. Not built anything for over 20 years. Got married to my wife in Malvern (England), that's where these threewheelers are still built, which is why I went for this kit. I also like the fact that details like the frame and engine etc will be on display. Also there's not many decals for me to mess up. I'm going for a not so glossy look, an aged instead of a weathered look. Constructive comments welcomed, but I appreciate those kind of comments probably aren't likely considering my lack of skill. That said any defects are down to the lack of my skills and obviously not down to the quality of this kit or the tools used.

I like the fact that you used some spoons to test the color before you decided to spray the car.
