Revell USA LaFerrari kit - first look and first impressions.

Great review Tim, plenty of pictures and well written segments. This looks like a decent kit but I still have no regrets about purchasing my Tamiya kit a few months back.

Well said, Austin. I feel exactly the same way. Best Regards....TIM

As do I. The Tamiya version will do great for a full detail. But like the Revell Enzo vs the Tamiya Enzo, this should build into a nice model with less complications in assembling. There is a thread on here that lists the build of this.

I will likely get a Revell version to build, but the excrutiating detail one B) will be the Tamiya. I just wish Revell would not continue that wheel mounting system. I work around it on my other Ferrari kits, but it would be better, IMO, to replace it.

Thanks Tim for the review. The mold in Poland is because these are shipped by RoG to the US. I believe they are boxed here.

Found this Revell of Germany LaFerrari kit release buildup thread by Tom Ruijter from The Netherlands elsewhere here on the MCM Forum.

He's been working on the kit for about a month and is nearly as of today. Well worth checking out! TB

Looks nice, I really like RoG efforts, and even if you pay RoG prices they're nice value.

I'm the idiot who has to have both, and the Tam detail up stuff from HLJ, price better but still a factor of 2.

Funny when plastic creeping hard onto resin prices. Fortunately LaF wackos won't scream as much. B):)

Thanks for usual quality write-up Tim.

Thanks Tim for another fantastic review. I really appreciate the re-release by Revell USA of Revell of Germany Ferrari kits for two specific reasons - lower price and white plastic. I have one of these currently on order at my LHS as I have always found the Revell Ferrari kits very satisfying to build. They look great when completed but if never finished I do not feel I have wasted my money. I have both Tamiya Enzo kits [regular & FXX] in my collection that remain unbuilt probably because of the unrealistic commitment I would likely feel to devote the extra time to make sure I did a worthy build to justify my investment. I also have a real aversion to red plastic which both Tamiya and Revell of Germany insist on using for Ferrari kits.

Thanks Tim....I'd not pay the $90 or so.....but for what my LHS charges for current Tevell....I may......

why would you have to pay $90 for the Tamiya version? bought mine direct from Japan and paid $40 for it, and maybe $20 for the P/E set and Carbon decal sheet

For a total of $65.47 as of the current exchange rate, you can buy a Tamiya La Ferrari, P/E set, Carbon decal sheet, and shipping.

Tamiya La Ferrari Kit 4000Y or $38.43

Tamiya Photo Etch Set ,880Y or $8.46

http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM12654

Tamiya Carbon Decal Sheet , 560Y or $5.38

http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM12656

Or if you just want the kit, you are looking at anywhere from $51 to $60 depending on what of one of four shipping methods you choose.
